I like this video, but you can clearly see her american-centric view. When she talks about age differences and calling them „not normal“ just because it‘s off of what she is used too. The same thing when she talks about nudity. I HATE the prude approach of americans when it comes to being naked and seeing others naked.

When you said that sailor moon is the type of media where girls are allowed to be both girly and powerful it reminded me of totally spies, in a sense that the show is also fashion oriented and unapologetically girly, yet the main girl trio is competent. I want an unnecessary deep dive about this show immediately.

So how about styling My Little Pony for a live action? I immagine Fluttershy always wearing a pink sweater with long sleeves and that she is sentimental about it

Season 2 had a new director who also worked on the sailor moon R movie as well as on some of the newer reboot stuff (though I’m not sure which one - maybe Sailor moon eternal…?). And I gotta say he didn’t do a good job. Season 2 is full of bad animation and misogyny. The R movie recycled the show. Like the worst parts, like aliens. Season 3 gets way better. Basically I like every season way better than season 2 but season 1 is my favourite. Not only does it introduce the girls beautifully, they also develope over the whole season, like Ami not only making friends but also approaching romance and growing as a guardian when she has to face Endymion on her own. And I can give examples like that on every girl. But only in season 1. after that they get each their story of the season and apart from that are pretty much background Charakters.

lol talk about style i don't understand your format. a green screen and moving yourself to the side or just a smaller box wouldve been better. you're showing these examples but i can't see any of them b/c your screen is in the way....why? or at least link your slide show so i can follow along XD

Uranus "World Shaking" was the best character attack in Sailor Moon Eternal. So bad ass!

I used to watch Salor moon as a kid.

in the DiC dub instead of wearing clean underwear she calls it “wearing her coolest socks” or something. As silly as the DiC/CWi dubs can be, they honestly made some admirable choices a lot of the time.

Also, the DiC handled the “slim city” episode a little better especially with the “Sailor Says” at the end which provides an actual moral to the story

the only negative that i think to had is how in the 90's anime usagi's friends are so mean to her for a long time . they bully her. and why other caracters can not have boyfriends stories

Masahiro Ando style wasn't bad at all, those episodes usually have very dynamic scenes with a lot of action made with a few frames, I think that's impressive. Other episodes are prettier but a bit stiff. And by the way, you take the third season all those pretty, pivotal episodes and you are left with a lot underwhelming, boring filler.

A bit late to the party, but I wanted to say how totally and completely impressed I am with this video, you as a content creator, and the Sailor Moon animators as a whole! So so so good. Seriously, I've watched so many trivia videos about the franchise at this point but I was still not prepared for how much legitimately interesting information and opinions were in this video. You really did an incredible job here. Super thorough, super intelligent, and just a really really good watch. I had this in my Watch Later for a few weeks before actually getting to it, but man... you better believe I stayed up until 3am watching it, unable to go to bed, because I was so hooked. Just really excellent work.

Omg your edits of you talking is so distracting and makes you sound robotic with your words being cut and just running on into other words and you need to do better editing because its distracting and I love Sailormoon but your video is painful to watch I tried to watch it but I couldn't handle the bad editing of you talking and your weird shifts of movement from the editing try to be a little more steady and flowing please

In Canada sailor moon name was Serena...I certainly not have the same animated, even the music was very much rock, even country like.i have the cd of the music tracks. If someone can enlighten me please do😅🤔

For the age gap since it bugs people so much in japan you don't start high-school tell sophomore year there is no freshman would put you around 15-16 years old so having a boy friend who graduated would be what like 18 a three year age gap it is different in other countries but as anime we should not bring real life into it ,it's not real people with this mind set ruin anime in general just saying as an opinion take things with a grain of salt

Hi I just found your channel through this video and I love how you explained everything!

I love the original Sailor moon so much. It does have its problems like the relationship inconsistencies you mentioned, and it did bother me. Like I felt like all the scouts got put aside like to the point they are doormats to usagi in SuperS. For a whole season that was not cannon, they did not bother to use it as a chance for overall world building and bring depth back to the inner senshi after they were overshadowed by the outers in S.

As for the dub, honestly I love the DiC dub so much 😭 I can’t stand the viz dub, there is not much emotion in the voicing for me tbh. Also the voices in the viz dub don’t sound like they’re part of the scene. The visual and the voices sound like two mutually exclusive things.

I think it’s weird how nobody looks the right age. The Senshi all look like they’re in their early 20’s except in their faces, Chibiusa looks 5 or 6 despite being apparently 9, Hotaru looks 14 when she’s supposed to be maybe 10, the Amazoness Quartet look 16 at least, and the guys in Usagi’s class all look way younger than Usagi does while Mamoru looks way older. It’s wild how age is presented physically in the show. I don’t think the manga escapes this either considering this still exists in Crystal. I don’t think anyone knows how age works lol.

The age gap between usagi and mamaro is illegal in the US. So it makes no sense to age him up in the American dub it made the relationship a crime

I watch these Sailor Moon analysis because I CAN'T with the plot, the childhood nostalgia isn't strong enough to get over the cheesy and repetitive plotlines. But I love everything about the art and design and music in Sailor Moon. I can watch Sailor Moon art and edits just bc how pretty it is.
