The Witcher Remake Gets Censored for CURRENT YEAR?

Been a long time since I played Witcher 1 (got the CE, that came with the art books (with full page spreads of those cards art, and I think maybe physical versions of those cards, can’t remember) but I remember the game being pretty clunky and buggy, so if they can fix all that sort of stuff up that’ll be great. The pin up cards I don’t really care one way or the other tbh, because they were kinda pointless beyond just being a collectable. I’d rather they keep them in though, but if you got higher visual quality scenes I’d take that as a fine trade off.

I have the first Witcher game. I'll deal with it. But yeah, making women less attractive to appeal to a modern audience is quote, unquote normal. Put a chick in it and make her homely, UNLESS IT'S HARLEY QUINN! There's no way they'll ever make Harley Quinn less attractive, aesthetically.

Making changes are not necessarily a bad thing. But we've been taught time and time again that we can't trust companies to make those changes in a way that actually respects the source material and the core audience

This is why I prefer to own physical copies of my games. I keep my old systems and the games I truly loved so I can replay them anytime I want. I'll sell the games that were just ok or worse that I would play again and use the money I get from them to help purchase other games.

I saw CD PROJEKT RED won an award from DEI program a few months ago, this is when I knew it would come down to this kind of situation and put them on my boycott list.

The cards were a stand-in for sex scenes as the graphics couldn't support proper scenes of that kind.

If the cards are removed and instead we get decently animated scenes of Geralt banging hot women, then I'll consider this a nothingburger.

Investors affiliated with certain businesses have enough capital to fund this ideology for the next several decades at least, doesn’t matter if the sales don’t add up as that’s not important to them. All these companies will still keep on producing this type of content because they receive investments for it regardless if sales drop. Other companies will also jump on the bandwagon for that level of funding. Still got about 30 years or so of this before it starts falling apart. It’ll probably go on for another 20 years beyond that with government bailouts and printing more money until everything does actually fall apart.

IDK, seems like an over reaction. Those trophy cards were already deemed in bad taste by many back when the original game launched. This kind of childish element does not vibe well with the overall serious and mature tone of the game.

Yay! Another game no one will want to buy for any reason! You can just play the original and enjoy it completely. Screw this woke culture BS. The principal of the matter is to keep things as the lore, canon, or creator intended. Stop race swaps and sex swaps and gender swaps and removing stuff or even adding new stuff. if they wanted to make a Witcher game without the content, get permission to make a NEW entry and do it that way. I’m done with modern gaming. I bought a PS1, PS2 and an xbox 360 and I’m currently playing old games. Plus I have the discs and I can play them anytime I want and no company can take it from me.

HUH why are they remaking the witcher 3 when number 4 (project polaris) is in development and so is the next cyberpunk game (project orion) are CDPR mental. OMG you dont think thier gonna warp it to fit the new one FFS!!!!!

Changes have to be minimal, else it's just a loose adaption.

I wouldnt mourn the loss of those cards, if that's all they change. Of course, that's not all they'll change. Look for Triss and Shani not both try to romance Geralt, and be strong women who don't need no man.. And gay Dandilion, and who else knows what.

I kind of expected that they will remake 1st game using engine from 3rd one.

So I just want to say something that the video either missed or it was not in that article you guys read. The one I saw stated that yes they were removing sex cards but that was not the major changes that were mentioned. The things mentioned in the changes were updated graphics, changing the combat system to be like Witcher 2 and 3, and making the game open world which they hope would fix a lot of the slog areas like the swamp region.

Also the article I read the dev never said anything like making it for modern audiences he stated they were remaking it to be more in line with witcher 2 and 3 which he worked on.

I wonder if they're going to piss in the eyes of history and make the Middle Ages in Eastern Europe full of diverse people like in the show.

I hope after seeing this CD Project Red will yank the project from this third party developer. I hope, but it probably won't happen.

I believe the game's director actually wants to make the game we all would like.
But the cancerous DIE-ESG rot in CDProjectRed management concerns me greatly.
Will the devs be allowed to simply make an improved version, or will they be required to make silly changes so we have the wrong races and sexes and sexualities and cringy dialogue of some characters?
