Well, in the 2000s we had Macromedia, and they were the only player in town! Adobe only had Photoshop and Illustrator really. Macromedia were visionaries, they had a product like FLASH, that really changed many things and also had Fireworks that were a bit similar to XD and Figma! Macromedia had Dreamweaver which was unique in the market. Then Adobe bought ALL OF THEM as they did with FIGMA recently! 😉
ОтветитьSaying a product is the industry standard when they've taken such aggressive steps to make sure their products are the only ones schools and businesses are learning/using is very suspect. The consensus from student/workers is that they use Adobe because they HAVE to, not because they WANT to. That's a monopoly. The fact that there is no option to just own the software outright reinforces this.
There is obvious quality to back up why Adobe is the industry standard but out of principle, I won't ever give a dime to a company like that.
Ipad combined with Affinity suite is phenomenal. Looks like there are no restrictions in toolset compared to desktop versions, and the way it works on Ipad is so so slick and consistent. They really smashed it out of the park.
ОтветитьAdobe is glitchy. A simple application like adobe reader has not worked well on Mac computers for many years.
ОтветитьHey brad, the bokeh doesn't go unnoticed ;)
ОтветитьWell, no – I did not pay Adobe every year or 1,5 years for updates! I could skip versions if they didn't have enough new features or weren't that good (CS 5.5 anyone?). No, it has become more expensive, and if I can no longer afford to pay, I lose access to all my work (not completely, but I can no longer do anything useful with the files I've created over the years). Not so much of a problem with PSD and AI files (there are lots of apps that can interpret those to a certain extent), but a huge problem with InDD files (which can't even be opened with older versions).
ОтветитьI paid alot for ADOBE PS and it is extremely buggy. Hand tool would stick all the time. No HELP anywhere from ADOBE. I'm learning AFFINITY and hope to untether from crappy PS.
ОтветитьThe Adobe Acrobat advertising displays at the beginning of the video hahaha
ОтветитьDude, Final Cut Pro has been around since 1998. 😂
ОтветитьWhat device did you use in this video? I've been looking for one that does the things yours does, for years now. Which brand and model number is that?
ОтветитьOnce I can afford it I'll buy an Affinity license and uninstall my Adobe cracks (I will never subscribe to your SAAS model, f-word you Adobe).
ОтветитьHonestly, the pure more user-friendly design of Affinity, I prefer way more over Adobe Softwares. I personally don't own Affinity, I only got Adobe softwares, but alone the fact that Affinitys Icons are more modern and colored is just better to me.. it makes them easier to seperate the icons from each other and allows you to find the tools faster & it just gives off a more modern and professional feel. So for that reason alone (along with the quality we know it has), I'm very much considering getting Affinity as well.
ОтветитьThis video was just an Adobe commercial. 10x more time was spent talking about how great Adobe is. You literally talked on and on about how much development goes on with Adobe. You forgot that Adobe is a billion dollar company with the money to back development 1000x than a small company such as Affinity.
ОтветитьI am a LONG time professional Adobe user; you might even say "evangelist". But the FOREVER subscription model is not something I'm willing to put up with. Why RENT the tools you need for your job when you can own them. Affinity does everything I need it to do, and I NEVER have to buy an upgrade if I choose not to. (That said, I own both v1 and v2; happy to support this non-subscription company!)
ОтветитьI switched all my pro work to Affinity with no regrets.
That said Affininy Designer just blows away Illistrator hands down.
The best thing about affinity is the price, it is very easy to learn and use, i can use it on my ipad and PC it’s definitely better, adobe went crazy with the subscription and it’s price, definitely never coming back to adobe
ОтветитьNothing is better than Adobe! I could not do without it.
ОтветитьI used to buy Adobe but they don't sell the product anymore, that was the biggest reason why I bought Affinity Photo and Designer. The results are what matter, and I can do the same stuff as PS but much faster.
ОтветитьInstead of Adobe they should call it Robadobe 😂
ОтветитьAffinity > Adobe. Adobe also spreads like cancer on your machine
ОтветитьFor hobbyist like myself , Adobe is not affordable. Affinity is affordable and it is quite good actually.
ОтветитьHere's my take. I have a CC subscription paid for by my employer, and the Affinity suite, so I always have the choice which to use. Occasionally there's a feature in Illustrator or Photoshop that is useful, like image trace, but apart from that, for me it is Affinity every time! The interface design, usability and intuitiveness are light years ahead of Adobe. And interface design is extremely important for a fluid and enjoyable workflow! Or, more briefly:
90% as capable as Adobe, 200% more usable/intuitive! Well done, Affinity!
Uh, the "scope" point is fair enough, but it bears mentioning that you need those four apps mentioned specifically because Adobe has chosen not to have their functions built into the basic suite (unlike, say, how Davinci Resolve has the equivalent of AE etc. built in)...
ОтветитьA waste of time. I know no more about how suitable Affinity's software is for my needs than before.
ОтветитьThis video was such a colossal waste of time. Wow.
ОтветитьI own a small printshop and I would love to have a replacement for Acrobat Pro and the Pitstop Pro Plugin. Acrobat crashes regularly and is just quirky while working on customers PDFs. I get really tired of waiting for mailing lists to compile in Acrobat and watching it only use one of my 24 CPU cores.
ОтветитьI live in a third world country, its an obvious choice, either that or pirating
ОтветитьMy problem with Adobe, after many years of owning and loving Adobe Creative Suite I decided to stay with my CS6 instead of the pay per month... right up until Adobe decided that my legally purchased, extremely expensive suite of programs was pirated and rendered it useless! They essentially stole my legally purchased software. You can see on many forums that they did this to a number of people for the sole purpose of extorting money for their new product. They are a disreputable company and I will never do business with them again!
ОтветитьAll I can say is, after using Affinity’s suite, they are noticeably faster and run more efficiently than Adobe. I just created a huge Illustrator file with many art boards on my new MacBook Pro (maxed out), and Illustrator was becoming sluggish and saving took a long time. I opened it in Affinity Designer no problem, worked on the document with no hesitations and saved immediately.
I then moved that same document over to my iPad and same thing… worked perfectly and saved immediately. Moved it back to my MAC and was seamless.
Unreal.
Great overview. I guess it comes down to what your needs are. I switched to Affinity, all three modules, and absolutely love it. Unless you're wealthy PhotoShop is a financial nightmare, which has built up an enormous groundswell of resentment for them. When I made the switch I felt joy, relief and "good riddance." If I were in charge of Adobe I would really reconsider their model.
ОтветитьIllustrator is by far one of the worst program I have ever used. Their software also has bugs in it that in some cases have been there for over a decade and most of the recent "upgrades" trash performance compared to older versions.
ОтветитьAFFINITY WINS!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьAs an AI, PS & inD user, I’m perfect target for Affinity. I choose it for quality + price + the passion to be part of “the underdog”😅
ОтветитьI moved to Affinity late last year. Affinity is nowwhere near as feature packed, capable or comprehensive as what Adobe Cloud offers but right now it does everything I need. Anyhow after 30 years with Adobe I have this great sense of freedom to be rid of them.
ОтветитьWhat gadget is that you were using to draw?
ОтветитьAdobe have now priced out the hobbyist. I've just bought affinity 2 suite for a 6th of the price of my subscription to Adobe CS last year. Can't knock the quality of Adobe but the pricing structure is silly for non pro and irregular use
ОтветитьAffinity 2...
ОтветитьI use Adobe Sofware daily.. but just PS and Illustrator.. and just the few funktions I need as industrial designer.
We still use PS 5.5 and ILLU 6.0 in the office! We just don't need anything more! CC Suite is overkill and just not needed. We only model in Rhino, render in Maxwell and retouch in PS.
It would be a useless expense. year by year! I want to buy Affinity Suite 2.0 just to check it out and support their great effort!
I hate the subscription politics that lots of companies start to follow.
e.g. Keyshot aswell.. result: we switched the 3D render pipeline back to Maxwell render.. slower, but higher Qulity!
And you only pay once.. and decide if upgrade o not!
call me old school, but that's how it should be!
I'll always take Affinity but I wish they would develop video editing software. I would buy that day one.
Ответитьif I could have bought illustrator and after effects for a reasonable price I would. But now im using designer and davinci instead. I will never rent software!
ОтветитьWhen you realize Affinity beat Adobe to putting InDesign on the iPad. It's a wonder that they didn't announce InDesign for the iPad. Not even Microsoft has Publisher on the iPad so you have to resort to the web-based 365 versions
ОтветитьThe question is, which is better, not the cost, not how long you been using it, nothing else. Simple and honest... Adobe is way much better, after you answer then explain your story. Mine is, I own both, I use photoshop 98%, affinity photo 45%, Deneba Canvas ver. 8 96%, affinity publisher 40%, why, well, programs like affinity photo or publisher with a start like publisher doesn't look professional like canvas, if you are a professional and want to design a 3 in x 7 in card you choose your measurements manually the amateur in publisher sees a bunch of templates, inside the program looks too complicated and crowded, lot's of missing tools and when you want to save, universal shortcuts like ctrl-shift-s doesn't work you need to export. From adobe I have old version installed, I won't pay like if I were son of Bill Gates, I love the latest ver of photoshop but I won't feed those crooks, that's my story affinity has good programs but needs to improve.
ОтветитьIMHO the biggest issue was Adobe going susbcription only - they obviously changed to maintain a steady flow of income, whilst deny users the option of perpetual licenses. If you go with Affinity, they lack several features Adobe does well, and the health plan of updates, content and learning. However, if instead, you go with Adobe, you must now live uncomfortably with the knowledge you can never stop paying to keep use it. The real question is how you plan to use either.
ОтветитьAffinity version 2, wins
ОтветитьPlease note that Substance 3D apps are NOT included in the normal program. I would also recommend Davinci Resolve free version as replacer of Premiere Pro, Audition and After effects
ОтветитьI used Adobe Photoshop and Indesign for several years, but when I found Affinity Photo and Publisher, Adobe was the end of the story for me. Apart from the fact that everything works much faster, I won't even mention the price. In addition, I also use the iPad and work on Photo and Publisher on it, and everything works great and fast. The interface is similar to Adobe programs and I got used to all the options that I used in Adobe very easily. All in all, Adobe is a thing of the past for me. Primarily because of the prices, which are too high, but also because of the superior performance of the Affinity program. That's my opinion for all those who two.
