100 days… so you’ve barely started?

I have a scenario I'd like you to do if you're interested? Survive 100 days with only child colonists. Make at least 1 child 13 so they can do all work types! Mix in some different ages and maybe even a baby for some entertaining results. Also accept no new colonists unless they are also children. It is not an easy playthrough and a lot of things are going to go wrong and take longer but it would be entertaining to watch.

Fun video, but it shows you have never done a proper ice sheet challenge.

A conventional Ice sheet challenge is Ice sheet with 3x permanent cold snaps applied (add via dev mode). No cannibalism, no tainted gear, no off map farming materials(trading is fine).

Summer temps are around -85c, going down to -125c in winter.

You ALWAYS double wall your base.

Keep it small.

No unnecessary wealth.

Never use solar panels (you are near a pole, there is always low light levels, solar panels don't really work for crap).

Marble tiles add far too much wealth, use concrete for the speed, but keep soil sections open for daylilies to ensure your main room is somewhat impressive or higher.

Initially also use the stony soil for potatoes using a sunlamp to grow them as a supplement are food source until you get hydroponics.

Previously you needed more than a normal numbers of batteries as there were no tox generators and wind power was the main source of power until geothermal.

You make excess stone spike traps indoors and then place them outside in the path to your killbox to handle the high numbers at LiF500%

Mood management is VITAL. You can't have that many mood breaks your colonist would have been dead. Honestly, one mood break is too many and will wipe a run.

Don't use bandwidth nodes, EVER. They are affected by solar flares, meaning some of your mechs will randomly roam and be uncontrollable.

On a small base, use a biphasic sleep schedule for mood and rest improvements.

You need 2 hydroponic bays per colonist, especially if using a nutrient paste dispenser. That massive room was very inefficient to run.

Expand the hydroponics bays as you get more people. Run 3-4 bays with one person if you want spare food, medicine, or cloth.

You can't run a base like you did on an extreme biome unless you are relying on luck to carry you through. 99% certain that run would have never left the planet, wealth control was fairly hideous, as was heat control.

I would be very interested to see you running a triple cold snap challenge run, though with the above terms, Biotech should make life way easier than when we did it in 1.0 -1.2 and the slightly easier 1.3 Rimworld.
