Love the guy saying you can’t explain it with numbers. That’s actually exactly how they did it lol

I love this scene specially when they say its impossible to explain yet we know.

We know that Pete is the man behind this. We know, this oddball, this self described "leper" can explain each and every single run because he thought to do something no one else in baseball history ever thought to do. He looked.

What the Oaks did in 2002 feels like what the Miami Heat did in 2023. AMAZING!
It goes to show that in team sports, as fans we tend to praise the stars too much, because at the top of the game, the truth is, nearly everyone can compete with them. Team sports have always been and will be about the TEAM and not individual accomplishments

The idea that ppl get paid 6-7 figure salaries for playing a dumb children's game while people building our roads and homes barely make 50k is disgusting, outrageous, and immoral. There's absolutely no justification for it whatsoever, you're a complete imbecile beyond hope if you disagree

I love this part...I feel nostalgic about this scene because we see that baseball is really the tie that binds America's present to its past. The vintage clips are the icing to the storied history of baseball.

I love the commentary about superstition and randomness. It's like watching a magician and not seeing the sleight of hand. The explanation is in one part extremely complex and in the other extremely simple.

This is my personal favorite baseball film ever and honestly I think it is the greatest baseball film ever, Field of Dreams and Sandlot are both solid but this is beyond either one of them.

Oakland fans should flood the stadium before the team leaves for Vegas and they should show this movie on the big screen. I bet you could pack the stadium for this if promoted properly

When I watched Moneyball, this scene was like I was watching this streak live again. Not even an A's fan, but as a baseball fan probably one of the top 5 amazing moments in baseball history.

OK I understand the bit about getting players for cheap because they see things in their stats that other teams didn't but what did Oakland actually DO on the field differently that made them improve so dramatically?

The “We May Never Lose Again” sign really hits. As a former player, there’s just something magical about going on long winning streaks. In a game where failure is so constant, to have that kind of uninterrupted success brings a special kind of vibe in the air. When you’re rolling like that, it begins to build a collective feeling that you really may never lose again. Fast starts, comebacks, good bounces, big hits - just feels like no matter WHAT you’re destined to win each game. I wish I could feel that again.

I was a bit annoyed that the coach was getting all the credit even though he was 100% against Billy's strategy and even went out of his way to try and sabotage it but ended up being hailed as the reason they succeeded even though he wanted to leave after his contract ended.

The “We believe” sign is what makes sports so incredible. That we as a people can become so emotionally invested in something as seemingly ridiculous as watching brown men hit a ball with a stick that it inspires us as a unified group to be a part of something great

I was thinking about being a basketball fan in Spring of 2000.
I watched the last quarter of game 7 of the playoffs.
I watched the Trailblazers, who were going to win vs the Lakers, I think, go from being a good enough team to win game 7 of the playoffs to being a team that missed 13(I'd initially thought that it was 11 missed shots) shots in a row.

Statistically improbable, to say the least.
Billions of gambling dollars can't be wrong.

I stopped being a basketball fan after those fifteen minutes.

This is actually one of the best musical scores in film history if you ask me. Between “The Streak” and “It’s a Process,” mychael danna gives you the feeling that something is building.

The editing is down so well for this film. This scene here is one of my favourite. I honestly believe if you are completely paralytic drunk. And you needed to sober up quickly. Just by watching this clip will sober you up. Just as good as 8 hours sleep and a good fry up.

I know that it was largely because they put together a team of people who actually knew what they were doing. But there is an element of believing in players who have never been believed in before. Because of the numbers. The scouts and managers trusted these players unconditionally. They never put them down or judge them for superfluous reasons like the other teams did and they all performed even better than the numbers were suggesting they would.

One of the best fucking pitchers in baseball was sidelined because he threw funny ffs
