Alan Wake 1 | The Best 6/10 Game I've Ever Played

I don't think I really stressed how much Barry saves this game. It would genuinely go down an entire point without him.

Small correct Thomas Zane doesn't actually save as at this point what's left of the Souls of Thomas and Barbara are in their own micro-universe which means that The Diver is the light presence taking Zane as an Avatar much like how Barbara is the avatar of the dark presence

I am, SO GLAD, that you got to cover the whole Thomas Zane clicker paradox. I just played through the game again, and they REALLY brush over this part fast, even in the DLC. On purpose, mind you. My mind was bending so hard trying to figure that whole segment out, and I love that you just can't answer it (like a lot of stuff in this game).

I think my head cannon is that Alan Wake seen the box of Thomas Zane's books in the cabin before the darkness took Alice, and then he used the idea of Thomas Zane in his story to help forge a way out. Thomas Zane, Barbera, the island sinking in the 70s, is all just fiction that Alan made up for his story.

BUT, then again, Alan has the dream with God/Tom BEFORE they get to Bright Falls and the cabin, and I'm pretty sure the cabin in his dream at the beginning of the game has Thomas Zane stuff in it. So you really can't answer this.

Glad you were able to take the game down a few notches. Tried it ages ago and couldn't even bother to finish because of how boring/bad the game was. I am honestly surprised this game even has a fandom with its mediocrity.

Can confirm, I own the remaster on my Xbox and it has never one done ANYTHING like that.

I can confirm that on PS5 the game Remaster was bug free. Shame the PC version is so fucked up.

One of the things I am infinitely grateful for about Alan Wake is the very fact that it introduced me to one of my favorite bands of all time: The Poets of the Fall. Absolutely my favorite 6/10 game ever.

I honestly hope you play alan wake 2 after this

The DLC and then even Control further this story and lore before even getting to Alan Wake 2. Control in particular really clarifies this game's story. And it's crazy that while connected, a wholly different game does that. You can see quickly the lessons learned and progress made since Alan Wake 1 when playing Control. It's almost night and day in it's execution.

Xbox remaster works amazingly

people act like flight and fight are the only human responses are gooses. At the very least there's also "deer in headlights" which means there probably a bunch others

Only other game I can think of that used light for combat in this way was Obscure. And it had some interesting ideas around it, like dmashing windows to let sunlight in to create safe zones

I still have no fucking idea what the story of the game us but that was fun

I recently played this game for the first time, and there is an aspect of the game that is not commented on in this video, but I found hilarious, and is the amount of actual real life ads that there are included on the game. You get an achievement if you watch a verizon ad, there are multiple duracell and verizon billboards during the last driving section... Hell, even the actual batteries you need as a gameplay mechanic are duracell branded, which it on itself is also hilarious due to how they only last a minute, even less.

Yo, Red Rising is one hell of a ride! The whole series is a personal favorite, hope you enjoy the meat grinder. Ever considered doing some non Warhammer book videos?
