dont find her that underrated...the longer you listen to her - and that can be ANY song - the more you get persuaded, that a voice like that will never come back...the closest to her , i think, might be bonnie herman (singers unlimited) 💖
ОтветитьCool true Karen story: She and a friend were going into a restaurant in L.A. and John Lennon was coming out. When he saw Karen he stopped, turned around and said “Love, you have a fabulous voice.” Well! Karen couldn’t move. She turned to her friend & said “Do you think he really meant that? Do you?” She was so bowled over by his words. The friend said “Yes, Karen, he really meant it.” Karen repeated the same question “Do you think he meant that?” The friend was exasperated! Everybody knew about John’s razor sharp wit & temper. He did not suffer fools gladly & wasn’t the type to say something he didn’t mean. I think she repeated the question yet again!
Can you imagine the humility of this girl? That humility you sense with every note that came out of her. No, there will never be another voice, never be another temperament, never be another heart like hers. Karen Carpenter, we loved you so much. We always will.
No one has ever been able to touch her!!!!
ОтветитьI have never heard anyone refer to Karen Carpenter as under rated. Many consider her the best vocalist of her time.
ОтветитьWhen you listen to tons of Record albums growing up, sing through your teenage years and study Music in college, you end up with Karen Carpenter.
ОтветитьThe best female voice of all time. Unmatched for her tone, warmth and vocal range.
As of today, October 19, 2023, Richard Carpenter is working on a new studio album. This album will be her first solo recording since 1987's "Time Out of Mind." Carpenter has been working on the album for several years, and has been searching for a vocalist who can fill the void left by her sister Karen, who died in 1983.
In an interview with Billboard in 2022, Carpenter said that the album will have a sound similar to that of the Carpenters, but that it will also be an evolution of his sound. "It's still soft rock, but it's a little more modern," Carpenter said. "There's also a bit of experimentation."
Carpenter has not yet announced a release date for the album, but has said that he hopes it will be released in 2024.
In addition to his work on the new album, Carpenter is also working on a documentary about the life and career of the Carpenters. The documentary, which is being produced by the company "Greenwich Entertainment", will be released in 2024.
Carpenter also continues to tour and give concerts. In 2023, he toured the United States with singer-songwriter Michael Feinstein.
There is no voice today that compares to Karen Carpenter's. She was a unique musical genius in the world and goes far beyond her time. It without autotune or any other manipulation. Just her voice and her brother Richard's incredible arrangements. No current artist can match this in this era. Karen was also one of the best drummers of her time and she could sing well while she played the drums simultaneously. A true top talent. RIP Karen Carpenter, We will always remember you and love you!!! 💛💛💛

QEPD Karen Carpenter, ¡¡¡ Siempre te recordaremos y te querremos!!! 💛💛💛
She didn't know what she was doing technically. She didn't understand all the technical aspects of what you are describing. She was singing her natural voice
ОтветитьLove the Carpenter's, listened to other vocal coaches explaining her voice, but enjoyed your analysis of her voice❤
ОтветитьMy god what a voice
ОтветитьI love her breath control and phrasing in this song, especially in places in it when another singer might typically take a breath, she doesn’t b/c it might interfere w/the way she wants to phrase a lyric. Just incredible!!😇
ОтветитьHer ability to convey emotion And also to invoke emotion with her voice is unsurpassed Very similar to Shania Twain if you listen to Her
ОтветитьI absolutely adore your in depth comments and excitement as you listen. Did Karen Carpenter even know what she was projecting?
ОтветитьGreat video. Some really interesting insights. One thing that stands out to me is her incredible sense of time and precision with placement of notes in time. (She's a drummer - and a very very good one!) What a musician and artist she was!
ОтветитьIt's like Hank Williams, every note is a symphony.
ОтветитьNo auto tune. They have computer analyzed her voice and she was almost pitch perfect
ОтветитьDude, shut it!! Best woman vocals in my generation
ОтветитьKaren's vocals pitch into a perfectly modulated frequency that affects the emotional reactions in her listeners' brains. Wonderful and extraordinary talent from both of them. Always, eternally special.
ОтветитьAgain. Today's music....yeeeccchhh! Give me what I grew up with in the 60's-80's anytime. Actual melodies. Real voices, no fake autotunes. And give me Karen's voice all day any day!!!
ОтветитьYou don,'t need all these vocal fireworks. Riffs and runs.. Your words and they are true. that's all.modern music is now. Yeeeccchh!!!
ОтветитьI love lower registers in female voices..
ОтветитьAgreed. Much credit needs to be given Richard. He is a musicsl GENIUS.
ОтветитьTo me the greatest pure, tonal pitch and wsrmth...the greatest of all times. There are more powerful voices and many great ones yet no one can hold a candle❤ to Karen. NONE.
ОтветитьSometimes I'm in the mood for Dimash. Sometimes for Karen Carpenter. But regardless, I'm always aware that both transcend genius.
ОтветитьHer mother loathed her. She was so upset that Karen's voice overshadowed her little boy. She developed an eating disorder and died at 32 thanks to Agnes literally despising her.
Ответитьshe is absolutely excepcional <3
ОтветитьElla sigue siendo la artista femenina más bella de todas, era tan bonita como su voz.
ОтветитьBest alto singer ever. She’s truly magical. She was one of my first idols. I was singing her songs at 4 years old. What a shame to lose her and Eva Cassidy.
ОтветитьRichard Carpenter's phenomenal contribution has been shamefully overlooked by 99% of the folks here. The man was a genius & knew exactly how to turn this into a masterpiece using Karen's genius. His arrangement is absolute perfection. And, lest we forget - Karen was not keen on the song when Richard brought it to her. Indeed, he had to persuade Karen that it was something special.
ОтветитьPeople have always said that Karen had perfect pitch. Recent computer analysis of her voice has confirmed this. The discrepancy in pitch between the live and studio versions is almost negligible. A perfect voice if there ever was one. RIP our beautiful Karen.
ОтветитьThey both (she and Richard) have lisps. Richard's is fairly obvious.Karen's less so.
Still exquisitely beautiful though.
Repeating myself in Karen videos, the voice of an Angel.
ОтветитьShe isolates and mixes in her three distinct voices at different times: chest voice (lower range), throat voice (middle range), and nasal voice (for more volume).
ОтветитьI remember when she so sadly died. I’ve lived to 75, wish she could have.
ОтветитьAlso an alto. Not many .
ОтветитьShe was a drummer and didn’t particularly want to sing.
ОтветитьShe could deliver a simple line in the most powerful way. It's how truly great artist do it.
ОтветитьWhat a voice. One of the greatest natural vocal talents. So many great songs and great recordings. The Carpenters were unique.
ОтветитьI was only 8 years old when this was released & thanks to my Mom, I've heard it a million times. Your analysis is eye opening & this song still brings me to tears when I hear it as both Keren & my Mother are in Heaven. Thanks John.
ОтветитьKaren said she was a drummer, that could sing a little! Also, Richard told her not to worry about her voice, (that she didn't like!!!!), he said "The basement is where the money is", Boy was he RIGHT!!
ОтветитьI love her Voice, and I feel so sad and Sorry for her death... she went so soon....I Just cant conceive....Good has plans, but something went so wrong. Karen should be yet with us. Sorry for not accepting, I really feel so Sorry.😢
ОтветитьThanks John, Just love the Carpenters music.
Ответитьdon't know about you but I give her an A+
ОтветитьJohn, thanks for your analysis. Karen had a voice like no other female singer.
ОтветитьIn the 70s, as a young girl, the radio would have this Big Sister of Song singing me into bliss and safety. God Bless.
ОтветитьKaren had such wonderful diction and a unique tone that touches the heart. Her voice seems to caress every word.
I agree wholeheartedly with John Henry's comments at the end that vocal fireworks are not needed - too often what is heard as impressive - high notes and endless vibrato for instance, are merely dressing up for what may otherwise be lacking.
dude you stop the video way to much to here yourself talk. Peasant.
ОтветитьOne of a kind. No one can touch her.
ОтветитьShe caresses each vowel
