$99 Damaged Google Pixel 2 XL Repair

I just looked at the iFixit tutorial and found something out about this phone: the battery does not need to be disconnected in order to replace a damaged display. I think this phone was designed in a way that makes this possible.

99 bucks for a damaged phone u can literally get for the same price in used condition or less..

A word to the wise: the screen is a beast to remove, fair enough if it's broken, but I'd say there was limited prospect of you removing a "good" one without killing it! - where I live, OLED screens are expensive - typically over $100usd so don't attempt a battery replacement lightly!

ALSO don't try to test with the shield/heatsink unscrewed, it requires the screws to make good contact between the volume/ power buttons and the main board.

Given that this model is now four or five years old, I wouldn't dream of opening one up without replacing the battery (complete;y false economy not to) - I also redid the switches and power connector as I wasn't going back in again any time soon!

When I reassembled my pixel 2XL the digitiser didn't work and I was unable to power down properly so I had to disconnec the battery (again) -As I haven't put the glue back in, I may do my own version for a "deep stripdown" if anyone interested

Be carefull not to damage bottom components, when you clip back the bottom screen cable, because it quite fragile, or you will end up with speaker problem

Hello, i wanted to share with you my problem hoping that you may have a solution for me. I have a Pixel 2 xl that was working perfectly. The screen worked fine. However there was an accident and the phone was dropped. Of course the case protected it so there is no sign of damage. However after the drop, the touch screen functionality stopped. I mean the screen works perfectly but not the touch. Does that mean that the screen is finished? Maybe one of the 2 connection cables that you show on your video was disconnected? so maybe if i try (somehow) to do this myself i will be able to re-connect it and get it fixed? But if by your experience what i am saying is impossible - and the screen has most likely died - then i will save myself the effort. Thank you!

U can shot down the device by putting the phone on charger and pres the reset buttons ( volume down and power) or just hold power for huawei phones

is the adhesive as good as the google original? that is to say what are the chances of preserving the IP67 rating of the pixel 2?

Why can't a person just replace the glass on the Pixel if the screen has a hairline crack in it? Why does the part under the screen need replacing if the phone still works fine? Thank you in advance for any replies.
