Abberation is an s tier imo purely because of the progression, exactly what you said in the fact that it’s hard to begin with and easy toward the end, that’s how every map should be in my opinion. Plus the addition of the karkinos, rock drake, light pets and reapers. The fact that you have no fliers makes it 10 times better as well because you spend the majority of your time flying above any danger on an argy or quetz for most of the game, abberation removes this and forces you to work with ground dinos

Tbh I think Lost Island was my favorite.

Imma be honest as a new ark player ...i had no idea all thos existed. Ive always hesrd of ark but only ever seen or heard about the island. I had always thought it was 1 map. Always took it as a never ending grind. This video gave me so much context and history behind the maps that no other video has. Thank you. Im actuallt excited to try to beat each map knowing there are different types of creatures orher than dinos.

every map is S teir, rag is just a category of its own, perfection.

Personally I would put Valguero lower due to it being stripped and gutted by WC which made it boring and would put Lost Island lower too due to it still being broken and many players unable to play it due to constant crashes and completely ruining the game due to not being able to play other maps too due to a bug that was never fixed.

No way you put aberration on the same tier as valg - I love valg but ab is my favorite map. I get that it's controversial but I think most people can agree ab is better than valg

Ab is for me the most visually stunning, but i think a lot of the maps have their own uniqueness. Island is the OG (S), Abberation (S), Fjordur (S), Gen 2 (S), Extinction i have a soft spot for (S), Ragnarok They nerfed the Lava Golum cave (A), Scorched Earth (B), Gen 1 (C). I didn't play much on the others, so wouldn't be fair for me to rate them.

Scorched earth I loved and aberration I adored. The island changed so much it feels like multiple maps. The other maps didn’t do much for me

I don't even like the gameplay of ark that much, but sometimes I play the game just to explore Ragnarok. That map is masterpiece of environmental design and artistic merit, and I wish it was attached to a more engaging gameplay experience so I could enjoy it more

I have not played all the maps. But my favourite so far is Ragnorak. It is a good map for a 1 map server too with the variations of biomes.

Scorched in C, damn you dont know a fun map. Yeah it hasnt aged as well but its just the most fun map overall.

I wish items like gliders, boomerangs, ziplines, net projectiles & fishing nets were available on all the maps tbh

Ragnarok is probably my favourite for the Griffins alone

Really enjoyed the video, The Island for sure is my absolute favorite map! That’s where I started and it’s one of the only maps I really stayed with over the years. I would visit Scorched, Center and Rag once in a while for resources or different Dino’s but my main map was always The Island.

I tried Aberration once or twice and really did not like it at all lol. I couldn’t figure out what I was doing. A little time after that is when I stopped playing. But this new UE5 release has really gotten me back into Ark!

I really do like how they made certain community maps like The Center official maps as free dlc

Can anyone tell me, i just downloaded the full game 500gb with all dlc, i wanna play solo, so the question is, what maps should i play in chronology, i started on - The island, i wanna beat all caves then all bosses and finally tek cave and then move to next maps, so yeah please answer me :)

I concur with your opinion on The Center, I just absolutely love it with the underground locations. Aberration is probably my favorite map overall simply because I have some good memories of being the server's designated bulk-courier, I had a convoy of 10 bred paracers + some guard animals that I would take around handling other tribes' shipping. No matter the distance or cargo, I got it there safe every time...I miss those days. I haven't played genesis or extinction but genesis specifically seems just...gimmicky.

Ark is awesome

Caves are IMO the WORST part of Ark, especially The Islands artifact caves. So its interesting that made Crystal Isles lose "points".
The reason caves imo are annoying is due to the fact that they tend to have BS "mechanics" like mega rabies, insta death delete your body death pits, super boosted dinos which is dumb, and a lot of the caves you cant bring dinos into(without cryo pods). They just spit in the face of the core experience of Ark.

With Ascended im already quite burnt out on The Island and just waiting for aberration to come out as thats the most fun and interesting map to me, though i haven't tried a good few of Arks maps. I'll definitely be trying them out as they release with Ascended.

Good video, I would say opinions are opinions but like, center A tier??? Its literally the worst one lol. Every map has some reason to go there, center has nothing unique.

Scorched earth is where I spent most of my time on official servers back in the day. The solo pvp journey on that map was so so rewarding since the experience gap that confronts you once you spawn. Up until level 60 ish you are at the bottom of the food chain. Clawing your way out just to settle in a 2 by 1. Oil bugs and plenty of metal kept the grenades flowing and my tiny monkey brain satisfied with blowing lil Bobby boys bases to bits

I hope for Asa that they will release the maps in the order they released them at Ase

• Abberation (The Goat Of Uniqueness And Difficulty)
• Ragnarok (The Goat Of Fibercraft PvP And PvP In General)
• The Island (The Goat Of Single Player)

A Tier:
• Scorched Earth (Fun Map And Mantis Go Brr)
• The Center (Classic Map With Good Base Spots)
• Fjordur (Same Problem With Lost Island And Is Way Too Big Imo)
• Lost Island (Fun But Made Official Dlcs Useless)

B Tier:
• Valguero (Boring Forgetable Map)

C Tier:
• Crystal Isles (Only Used For Crystal Wyverns And The Base Spots Are Mid)

D Tier:
• Genesis 1 (Bloodstalkers Being Insanely Broken And The Other Map Exclusives Being Useless)

F Tier:
• Genesis 2 (Made PvP More Unbalanced Than It Was)

Fjordur s tier for sure

Center was always kind of glitchy and somehow felt empty sometimes. The only maps that don’t have this feeling of emptiness are island, val, abberation and maybe extinction. I loved all of those maps. Every single one. But island, val and lost island the most. Ark will always be my favourite game. Ase and asa

great video! im just surprised you didnt like genesis part 2, for me i loved it and was one of my favorite maps, i never finished it and defeated rockwell but the map itself was so beutifall i just fell in love it doesnt feel empty to me i dont really get how it can there are so many awesome areas that id love to build, other than the map the missions and tech armour striaght away was okay i didnt really care i was just distracted by the map 😅

Hot take but scorched earth gets shit on way too much. It's a really good challenging map that def is worth the effort of playing in, even before they added ascension to it. It's one of my personal fav maps and I love how difficult it is. Only thing that holds it back is the same problem with other story maps, which is bad levels. Idk why but story maps like Island and SE have worse levels overall then other maps.

Finally someone who enjoys the center

Abberation and scorched Earth are both s tiers in my eyes. Otherwise i agree with everything on this list.

Personally, Fjordur is my favorite map. It reminds me of Rag, but has more water space and better caves. Its overall, the most diverse and captivating map.
