This was an interesting experiment and overall most of the methods seemed to work for the both the teachers and students. Seems like a win win situation.

I feel like for the kids who didn't turn up early for the sport sessions in the morning, maybe talking to them about what sports they do like might be a good way to possible accomodate their interests into the sporting activities instead it be from the looks of it a general fitness program. When we were given the ability to play ping pong by our sports faculty during free periods and lunch about half our cohort was playing it during those times when before we would have left to go home if we were able to or done nothing of note/studying.

Very useful videos carrying a lot of useful and effective techniques to make the students more attentive and make the teaching and learning more fruitful in an excellent way ....
It's very helpful for every student as well as teacher as we see, feel and face the same in our classes and with our students 👍👍

Chinese educators really should watch this documentary and reflect on our education issues. We will follow this route and adjust to our own situation, culture and traditions to make a Chinese education classroom experiment, for people to reflect, review and improve our ways of educating the future Chinese populations.

Of course the kids aren't enjoying the start of the popsicle sticks instead of hand raising. The teachers are just expecting them to be right, they aren't coaching them through to an answer. And of course the teachers aren't enjoying the popsicle approach, because they don't get to have an instant parrot-repeat of the right answer to keep going at their pre-decided pace, they have to face the fact that some people need more time on the subject or a different approach entirely.

I had the misfortune to have to sit through a 2 day lecture of his, insisted upon by my employer.
One thing I have learned during my 17 years in education is avoid Death by Power Point, and that is exactly what this guy did. I lost count of the amount of slides we went through. The college I work at sat 120 of us in front of him. Never in my career have I seen someone actually nod off during a training lecture, but a guy at a table nearby did exactly that.
He lost people's attention within 30 minutes.
I've no doubt this man is highly intelligent and well respected but his presentation methods that day were awful. If I had done what he done in front of Estyn inspectors I'd have got my department sanctioned and I'd have been in front of HR.

I use these strategies in my primary classes and I genuinely have engaged, attentive learners. It does work, to the point, that they complain if I don't use the lolly sticks ( unfair! ), or if I don't get out the whiteboards to check understanding. If I have forgotten to give out cups I get volunteers. They love the active involvement in their own learning and they understand that it really supports GMS, because they learn to be transparent and collaborative with each other. Thank you.

This experiment highlights the problems inherent in running mixed-ability classes, and makes it clear that any techniques used to increase access to participation for the students on either side of the class average (in terms of ability) will only ever be compromises.

The mixed-ability classroom mantra is the educational equivalent of the MBTI: it needs to bloody die.

Jesus, what a load of trendy shit! Names on lolipops, morning exercise, coloured cups, student whiteboards that the teach can 'quickly survey' (in a class of 30+), yeah, good luck with that.

The cups. Can you imagine having 10 orange and a good few red (coz students will be winding you up, bar a few genuines)? The teacher will never get through the frigging lesson.

And can you imagine having this very superior Dylan William observing your class with his faddy ideas? He could at least try to look supportive and non-judgemental, but he sits there all self-righteous, like he's the best teacher in the world and he disapproves of the other riff-raff. Nightmare.

It is amazing how all the teachers without exception were not willing to learn anything new. They all came up with reasons why they shouldnt use a new technique. They also demonstrated that they could not implement what they had learned and complained about the students ability to learn! I am speechless because I am a teacher too. They all behaved like quiz masters.

What these government schools are concerned with is eliminating disparities in academic outcomes. They are communists that concern themselves, not with ensuring that every child has equal opportunity to achieve, but equal outcome of achievement. This is unnatural and pure evil.
