Diolch yn fawr. I have forgotten all my Welsh from when I was 5 in Myndd Isa
Ответитьnot for me - got stressed listening to him prattle on - waste of time
ОтветитьFar too slow. Nothing at all useful for almost 2 minutes. l am not going to sit through endless titles and music , only to learn a few words in 10 minutes. As for his weird memory devices, l am glad they work for him, but it wastes time with most of us. Duolingo will have you advancing much faster, without bizarre references to shoes as a memory aid for Hello!
ОтветитьOur first language we store in the right hemisphere of our brain. The vast majority of people, when learning a second language, store it in the left hemisphere of the brain, making it easier to learn, yet harder to access, since that hemisphere of the brain is for concrete, spatial thinking, not language. The picture/word association, while making vocabulary easier to remember, reinforces the left-brain storage. If, however, you instead take more time to learn the vocabulary as well as occupy the the left brain with instrumental music, it will take much longer to learn the vocabulary, but will shift the storage to the right hemisphere, making the usage of that language more natural. The choice depends on how well you eventually want to utilize that language. If you need it quick, and place the priority on that, then the picture/words association would be the way to go. If you want to more fully grasp and use that second language, then you'll want to take more time and force the retention to the right hemisphere.
ОтветитьPro tip: set speed to 1.25x

ОтветитьI'm originally from Swansea and I loved it so much. But my dad was made redundant so we had to move to wherever did his work. Stupid lancashire. Doesn't compare to this great country. I'll be back one day.
ОтветитьWhat a great teacher you are. Thank you for these lessons
ОтветитьMy husband is Welsh and I've been so yearning how to speak his native tongue.
ОтветитьIf you ever ask for directions from a native Welshman carry an umbrella as your going to get covered in flob. As the Welsh language is the equivalent of clearing your throat after a cold.
ОтветитьThough I am Russian and have never been to Wales, it has always had some charms on me. Welsh sounds so mysterious and magical
ОтветитьI’ve always loved Celtic languages, it’s a crime how these beautiful languages were butchered by primarily England and France in the 20th century. I know not a word of welsh but I’m gonna learn it anyhow just to help keep it alive.
ОтветитьNow I have a daft Welshman waving his shoe at me engraved on my brain. But I decided to learn Welsh on a whim so probably my brain was pretty smooth and needed some extra engravings.
ОтветитьI really enjoyed this xxxx
ОтветитьWelsh is a fascinating language because you can use it to translate Egyptian hieroglyphs. I must give it a go sometime.
Ответитьthank you Jason!
ОтветитьI'm trying to learn about and connect with my Welsh heritage, so I'm really excited to try learning to speak. I'm so grateful for your videos! Diolch yn fawr iawn!!
ОтветитьI have moved to Wales and started working in the community. A lot of the clients prefer to speak in Welsh so I would like to learn and communicate with them. But, I’m finding it difficult as I have dyslexia. I also need to understand the alphabet and pronunciation would help me greatly.
Ответитьdiolch
ОтветитьThis is great. Diolch. And I love that you do it to the music of Damh the Bard.
ОтветитьThis was really helpful. Thank you
ОтветитьI have only just found this channel thankyou. Hopefully I can learn the language where I live anglesey.
ОтветитьIn South wales, we spell it as shwmae 🫶
ОтветитьDiolch !!! So much fun!!! Thank you very much 👍👍
Ответитьthank you for providing this free - my mother just died - and she was 100% welsh.. as an honour to her I wanted to try and learn the language this year.. I do have a welsh/english dictionary and remember a couple of words from my childhood - the challenge will be is that I know no one ( I live in Alberta, Canada) who speaks welsh to practise - but never mind - I will continue
ОтветитьI was watching Dune part one and I came up with a concept to throat sing in Welsh started watch this channel and as you go I'm turning this into Welsh throat singing I was going to ask if you could it but I started and its perfect for it
ОтветитьThank you!! I am beginning today!! So happy!!🎉
ОтветитьMore than 6 minutes just to learn one word (hello). I’m sorry but I need to speed up a bit otherwise I’d be reaching the age of 175 years old and be able to only say hello my name is…
ОтветитьYes mate I’m welsh and this is SO FUNNY MATE🏴🏴
ОтветитьI'm glad i looked up a video for this stuff because i started to really doubt the pronunciation of duo lingo. Turns out they've been teaching me a few wrong pronunciations
ОтветитьI don't speak English perfectly, but I understand everything, doesn't matter where the person is coming from... But Welsh for me, is something nice, I would like to learn a little bit and get married with an Welsh woman 😅😊
ОтветитьI was in Wales last year. It's a fascinating country and the language is very interesting. I would like to visit Wales again and learn the language.
ОтветитьSutmae from Florida!
ОтветитьI’m Arab
"I am Arabic, but I adore Wales, its history, and its culture, especially the Brittonic nations that thrived after the Roman era."
Fantastic!
ОтветитьI'd say the 'North Wales' version of Hello would be 'ti' iawn'
ОтветитьIf you speak my dialect in German, hwyl is easy to remember, because it's similar to heil, which just means hello. Edit: also I think I'm pronouncing the chi too harshly, my throat hurts.
ОтветитьThis is absolutely brilliant!!! Learn Welsh with visualisation and a quirky welsh sense of humour. Best I’ve ever found! Diolch!
