What are your two must have lenses for filming?
ОтветитьThanks. I buy f4 zooms and f0.90-f2.0 primes only. I have found f1.8 to be the value sweet-spot for primes on Sony mount. And f2 the value sweet spot on Nikon F mount and Leica M mount. So 👍 on this video.
ОтветитьBecause I buy 1.2
ОтветитьI think you made an admirable case for opening up lens choices. That more expensive is not always better. And that lens design inherently comes with some interesting, and often conflicting, choices. The perfect lens does not exist. And we should remain open to all options. Very nicely done!
ОтветитьCame across your channel and I simply love it. Thank you so much for sharing the knowledge . Wanted to know if you could help with the camera stand you are using . I have been looking around but couldnt find a great deal .This one will surely help my purpose
ОтветитьThank you Levi! Starting with my Canon 6D back around 2013 the 24-105 F4 lens has definitely proven as #1 overall lens for full frame video. Just picked up an FX6 and I appreciate the coverage of 20mm F1.8 thanks again! TJ
ОтветитьWhat a great video! Thank you!!!
ОтветитьI Almost went for the 20/1.8. Ended up going for an open box 16-35 /2.8. Not sure if it’s still justified to get the 20 or a 35 as this covers that rage but both look awesome as well :)
ОтветитьSuch a good review and brilliant, thoughtful advice. So glad I stumbled on this 2 years later 😂
ОтветитьI'm a sony user, but I think the reality is if price and weight are such big factors, then sony is probably the worst choice to be shooting on with the options out there these days.
ОтветитьGoing back, this video made me buy the 20mm 1.8G... a good buy indeed
Ответить"Per-shnick-ity" 😂
ОтветитьYou got my subscribe with “pershnickedy”
ОтветитьYour shooting style is very much like mine and I'm rethinking all my 2.8 lenses mainly due to weight. Thanks for your insight. New subscriber.
ОтветитьCan't wait for when Sony inserts catalyst browse directly baked into cameras in the Active Stabilization mode. Takes way too much time and effort to add catalyst browse to clips
ОтветитьI am using a sony a7iv this year to film my deer hunts. I HAVE to utilize a remote for zooming as i only have one hand available to move the camera around and zoom in and out. I have a question NO ONE can seem to answer. Not b&h, not anyone. I am aware that the Sony PZ lens will work with a remote, however the other day I was trying out some other lenses for example the 70-200 f2.8. I noticed this lens would also zoom in and out with the remote however it seemed different than the PZ lens. For example when zooming in and out with my 18-105 PZ lens it tells me the MM I am at when zooming in and out. The 70-200mm just showed "1x, 2x, 3x" it did not specify MM's. Am I seeing an optical zoom with the 70-200 or is it like digital or clear image zoom? Also would the 24-105 be a good upgrade over the 18-105 given my situation? Thank you, I hope you or someone else can help me understand.
ОтветитьAnyone used tamron 28-200mm f 2.8 -5.6 ??
ОтветитьYour thumbnail says "why I don't buy f2.8" but half of the lenses on your gear/wish list in video description are f2.8
ОтветитьThank you for this video 🙂 swiching to sony. This video is just what i needed.
ОтветитьI never thought of using my Sony 20mm 1.8 for vlogging. Always used my Tam 17-28. So I tried it today. We have a new winner. Thanks!!!
ОтветитьIs it just me?? or none of these have internal image stabilization???
ОтветитьDid you have any focus breathing on the 20mm 1.8
ОтветитьHey Levi, wanted to thank you for this great video. Just one question on the gyroscopic data you mentioned; do you need Sony software for this or can this data be used in Premiere Pro/Davinci? Thanks for all your great work!
ОтветитьNice to hear your down to earth opinion for video (different then for photo mode). I'm mostly wondering how much better A7RV is for IBIS stabilisation, if it can solo (or with active stabilization), keep a non OSS lens stabalized.
For 16-35mm, i think the Sony PZ 16-35mm F4 would be perfect for you.
On my nikon, i loved the 24-70mm f2.8E VR (stabalized) amazing for video (like on boats). it basically covered all range except UWA that i needed. And the size while heavy made me able to 'one hand' carry this lens 'in balance' near the mount, i even used it while cycling that way :)
On Sony i didn't made much video's yet, i wanna change this, this year when i go to Zwitserland. My biggest worries are stabilization (i don't have the 24-105mm, wich is only option for this, i got Gmaster version II instead), and rolling shutter. One one hand i think people overstate it, on the other hand i have to take it into account.
Very informative video, thank you!
It's a shame you don't like adverbs tho 😂
Thanks!
ОтветитьI had a look at Catalyst Browse and I didn't see any option to stabilize footage, so did you just use it to analyze the gyro information and used another program to stabilize?
Awesome video by the way!
Thanks, Levi, for this informative and simply beautiful video! Wondering how you archived this ts mesmerizing softness? Ist mist filters or in post?thnx
ОтветитьAwesome video and super excited to subscribe. I would love to know if you stick with catalyst browse or find that extra step not necessary.
Catch you soon!!
Do you have to turn off Active Stabilization in order to use Catalyst Browse? Which do you prefer of the two for a steady image? Great video btw.
ОтветитьSo many great examples in this Levi! You've got me to add different lenses to my "consider buying" list 😂
ОтветитьH thanks Levi that was excellent.
I will think of you as the benchmark of professionalim cheers
Sony learned something from Minolta. The beercan, mini beercan are great f4 lenses.
ОтветитьJust found you, glad I did! ..your flow resonates with me ! Just purchased a A74 and Tamron 35-150 and wow, coming from a A9 over 1 year ago...what a great upgrade for me! I Will be filling the gap with the 20mm you used! TY
ОтветитьThe 70-200 GM II is the best lens I ever used for stills. 33 MP from the A7iv are not enough to measure its resolution.
ОтветитьBefore i watch your Video, my lenses are the 20mm 1.8 and the 24-105 4 Like you have. And i am so Happy with them, they are my Favorite lenses to shoot with and If i want to get more into Wild Life in the Future i would try Something in the Tele Zoom but Not yet.
Thank you for your Video
I know this is an older video, but Sony really outdid themselves with the 70-200 f2.8 GMii and the PZ 16-35 f4 G.
ОтветитьVery helpful and honest review!
ОтветитьGreat video ! Love it ! I was wonder about 20mm lens , great review !
ОтветитьThis is awesome thank you
Ответить😍 amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥
ОтветитьHi Levi has your standard zoom changed from 24-105 to tamron 28-75?
ОтветитьThanks for the advice levi!! 24-105 was the first 'serious' lens I got for our video, love it's adaptability!
ОтветитьBack watching this again and realising how much this informed my buying habits
Now have a 24-105 + 20mm in my kit
this was a really well made video! I felt like I was watching a documentary about best lenses! really enjoyed and subbed Levi! thanks for making this! <3
ОтветитьAwesome video!!!
ОтветитьI love seeing those outdoor shots with a filmic grade on them. I think that it just makes it look so cool
