You aren't lying. Those little Phillips head bowl screws will strip out every single time. I just immediately grab the channel locks whenever I encounter them. I just use the channel locks to break them loose.
ОтветитьHow did you disassemble the fuel shutoff solenoid? I wasn't even aware that they could be disassembled.
ОтветитьThis carb setup reminds me of the GCV 160 that I was working on this morning. You need about 8 hands and a lot of patience, lol.
ОтветитьThat washer holding the pilot jets is a very unusual fastener, but I don't think it is proprietary. I actually have the tool to remove those. I found it in my grandfather's shop when he passed away. I wasn't sure what it was used for, but I am glad I kept it. It is just like a normal screwdriver, but with that notch cut out in the middle. You could easily make one out of a regular flathead screwdriver.
ОтветитьIn the case of using spade lugs, would it have been possible to either tap the new CB, or the spade lug (which ever of the two is thickest) and position the lug or switch, to accept a screw to secure them together?
ОтветитьFlag connectors, 90 deg .25" push ons. but the barrel crimp tool is needed.
ОтветитьAir-fuel velocity into both venturis blended with high hunidity will definitely frost the carb barrels..such vacuum and atomization/evaporization lowers the fuel air temperature ( Koehler), Onan, I believe, have longer strokes on the twin cylinder compared to single cylinder models for steadiness in rpm. Chevy had this issue with the Cavalier with that inline 4..they ended up adding a sub plate eletric heater to raise the fuel air temperature/density just a few degrees during cold winter s.
ОтветитьI never would have expected a second breaker just because I was missing an e-clip. That is especially considering how expensive the Generac breaker is. Heck even Mouser could not sell it too cheaply but a heck of a lot less than $230.00. What I would have expected is a second pin along with 2 e-clips. That would have been a pleasant enough surprise for me. Now here is the thing, if Mouser is selling a usable breaker for it for $76.00 how much does that breaker actually cost either one to buy before they mark it up? It would seem to me that DeGenerac has a completely insane markup on them!! I don't own any generators but I can tell that they must be getting some really high profits from that part. Then you gotta wonder about the other parts because these generators are expensive.
ОтветитьOver all these are great machines and a good design, but that airbox placement design is why you never leave engineers without oversight. Most engineers aren't mechanics and they need a repair mechanic to look over their designs and point out some of the ridiculous choices they made.
ОтветитьJeez-0-Peet! $300 for a genuine "Generac" Well I suppose 15% of the original NEW PRICE isn't too nauseating.. Sheesh!
ОтветитьInstead of multiple butt-splice connectors, would a molex connector make sense for serviceability?
ОтветитьHow did the engine pick up speed during the test?
ОтветитьThank you. Wel explained. Keep up the video's. I like it.
ОтветитьJames, when you added liquid to the sonic cleaner, beside the hot water, what were the other 2 liquids that you used?
That combo sure seemed to do a nice job on that carb.
Thanks in advance.
Would love to have this unit or a bigger 15kw+ running sized unit in tri-fuel configuration to hook up to my nat gas line since you lose so much with natural gas vs gas as fuel source. The trade-off is in unlimited availability, theoretically, connected to my home's nat gas line vs obtaining, storing, filling tank, and monitoring of propane or gasoline.
Ответитьhi james i like to sent my 2000 what generator to repair
ОтветитьI really love this channel it's super informative
ОтветитьTell the owner to use Ethanol free gas in it. This will keep the gas from turning into jelly when it sits for long periods of time...!!!
ОтветитьI always stuff a rag in the carburetor when removing screws or nuts that might find their way in.
ОтветитьI wonder how Techron would work towards cleaning these small carburetors? Techron Complete. I tried to paste an image, but it didn't work.
Ответить👍
ОтветитьGreat video. I noticed that it is a gravity feed fuel system and your test fuel line came up from the bottom could that have something to do with it seems like it not getting enough fuel?
ОтветитьIt's always the carb! I saved a few hundred hour Gillette Gen-Pro 5k from an electrical service that used it VERY roughly for 15 some years. Carb was like this one, bought a generic off eBay, new starter and battery. Runs like a champ! Spent far more time trying to fix the carb and starter after i got the machine running, than the cost of the parts. 😂
ОтветитьCutting off Temporary zip ties. When fitting them turn them over so that the ratchet side does not engage. Then they just pull apart - no need to cut!!
ОтветитьBeautiful job, I absolutely love watching work your magic.
ОтветитьIt’s a scam rubbish
Ответитьi would not let you work on anything of mine. you need to take pictures of wiring before you take it apart.
ОтветитьWhat would cause a Generac Inverter with only a few hours on it to stop running?😢
Ответить$1800 USA NEW OUCH.
ОтветитьI have a screwdriver fot that "proprietary screw head" it is also great for fixing sewing machines that have slot head nuts wity pass through fastners.
ОтветитьSome design engineer’s need to RnR parts in their own once or twice
ОтветитьYou never mentioned the elephant in the room, what happened to the fuel tank?
ОтветитьI cringe to think of what that resistive load cost.
In reference to the different size main jets, they're half right. Horizontal shaft Briggs and Stratton V-twin engines have same size jets. Vertical shaft have different size jets. Why? In the horizontal configuration, the cylinders are fed in a downward direction and fairly evenly. In the vertical configuration, one intake runner is higher than the other, making one side slightly leaner, and that side has a very slightly larger jet. So true with mowers, false with generators.
could have used a dab of gasket maker like RTV on that torn gasket. if used correctly that stuff doesn't even stick oll that much on machined surfaces
Ответитьso the owner used it for 2 hours. Power came back on and he did not turn back on for 10 years and sold it Junked Carb.
ОтветитьI had a Generac 7500 watts, friggin' piece of junk....
ОтветитьDid you spot that stray washer when putting on the airbox?
ОтветитьPoor connections compared to the original breaker and too many connections.
ОтветитьGood job.
ОтветитьThat was very good, I enjoyed it immensley... Thanks for the lesson.
ОтветитьIt has break in oil in it. The oil you took out is better then the oil you put in
ОтветитьSeems to me that drilling out the tabs on the back of the breaker and using small nuts and bolts would have been less work. Maybe not...
ОтветитьThe breaker surface mount screws are the same thread pitch as older PC motherboard mounts or those used for 3.5" floppies or CD-Rom drives it seems.
ОтветитьGreat informative video and superb diagnosis!
ОтветитьIt's the harbor freight engine that has them different.
