An over-dependence on technology to meet our apparently endless demands and an underdevelopment of social wisdom in the management of local natural resources has lulled human beings into a state of comfort and naivety. The network of supply and discharge of resources in cities is largely invisible to its primary actors, the common people. In essence, such myopic behaviour is partly due to the nature of our physical built environment, the conditions that facilitate or hinder our actions. The talk 'Invisible Networks' will highlight examples of human-scale grassroots-level methods of problem-solving in comparison to highly technological ones to reflect on their respective long-term resilience possibilities.
