I would say Keanu has always had a good acting career. Movies like Devils advocate, Speed, The Matrix.

It goes without this was the wrong part for him, And yes Chas Holland version wasnt like that, but at least he was close to the comic book counterpart.

I agree on just about everything except Peter Stormare as Lucifer. That was the highlight of the movie.

I don't think this is stated in the movie, but for me it makes sense that the devil canceled the apocalypse because deep down, he's scared of the final battle, he sees very possible that he will lose it, which leads to him postponing it indefinitely and humankind always living on the promise of a final battle that will never come.

It was also one of the least comic accurate comic book movies ever. How are you gonna have a Constantine who isn’t blonde, isn’t British. And isn’t a smartass?

Im a big fan of this one. However it definitely could have been better. Really really hope we get that second one with him reprising the role that I've been hearing about recently.

I love this movie im so glad theres a sequel coming fun fact the spear of destiny from constantine is also in the first hellboy movie which came out one year earlier the scene where isabel is still in her hospital gown is like a i guess it what you will be in if you commit suicide in a hospital you thats what you are wearing in the afterlife which in this case hell

There is one line from Constantine that has been stuck in my head for ages.
"Fire? I was born of this!" Is a good line for a guy from hell being lit on fire.

I don't care about anyone else's opinion, I love Constantine.

Keanu Reeves is a wonderful guy but he was miscast as Constantine.

never understood why this movie was not more successfull, personaly I really like it and the somehow 'distanced' acting of Reeves fits the character.
Of cause there may be some weak spots here but thats easily made good for by the SUPREME supporting actors (Tilda Swintons depiction of an ageless, sexless, moralless angel and, overshining all, the second-best devil-performance after 'The Devils Advocate') - and Rachel Weisz never disapoints either)

Colnstantine is supposed to be a pulp-noir exorcist that treats Demons like a loose cannon private eye treats a mobster that kidnapped a little girl....this made him too cool. He's a badass that has out-foxed both God and The Devil. Hes kinda like a Gadgeteer hero, like Tony Stark. He doesn't have crazy powers.....his power, is his knowledge. He knows when a certain type of Demon or Angle is allegic to the sound of crickets, or that certain demons can only speak in certain poetic stanza forms....he has tactics, that only he can employ, due to his unique insight on the spirtiual world and the mechanics of magik in his world.

The reason I disliked Constantine was that I love Constantine. It was just another early 2000s comic book movie interpretation with almost all the personality of the comic absent

Dragons are actually kind of prominent in the Tanach: The snake of Eden, the leviathan. There might also be dragons in hell and heaven.
Maimon is a very common surname in Israel, so I kinda find it hilarious? Like, I expect someone to say “Maimon! Where you put dragon fire?! We need for exorcism, ken? Never mind! I find Uzi. We good.”

One of Doug's reviews that I mostly disagree on. I actually really like the film. The pacing and lure us really intriguing and the character of Constantine is complex. John doesn't really believe in god album wants to go to heaven. It's genuinely intriguing to see if he does go to heaven or not.

While most people are pointing out dragons breath in reference to fact that dragins do exist in the bible, its existence in the film is in reference to a type of bullet i think :3

I loved this movie

I’m surprised how much people don’t like this movie, it had accurate demonology and interesting supernatural lore in it, pretty good SGI for its time, epic design for the demons, Keanu acted his part very well as a jaded and hardend demon hunter, and the movie was just 10 tons of pure badass

I was compelled to watch this one again after Linkara recently (when I wrote this) reviewed the Hellblazer story arc "Dangerous Habits", which this move VERY loosely adapted. I thought the movie was OK.
