SOLVED:
apart from the fact that the background music/noise drives me crazy. I solved the problem. Bought milk wit 3.8% fat. Wonderful creamy and stable foam!

hey everyone. so I faced issues with froth and wanted to return barista to the shop. but resetting to factory defaults solved the issue. also the froth from different types of milk is different, so one should experiment. and also it seems that the milk which is fresh and contains higher percentage of protein works the best

My barista works really well. For hot recipes i use whole milk 3%. For cold recipes i use semiskimmed milk 2%

Hey guys, had some issues too, one of them is the one you talk about, my first cappuccino is perfect then the second one the foam is not what it supposed to be, so I find out that after the first one I have to just put the mug under cold water than it work usual, but my other problem is that the cap it keep pop up, after first foam, and it's leaking milk, I have to put a little pressure on the cap after the first use, then after I clean it all, it works normally...I have no explain what is going on....:(

Put the Barista on latte mode, way more froth if that's what you're looking for. Also I wouldn't be pressing the start button to spin milk multiple times. The milk being already heated, you could have damaged the thermostat trying to spin the hot milk again.

Hi Micheal I love your video. I'm not sure if you still monitor these videos but I recently got this machine and the fan is constant when making anything hot but I didn't notice that happening to yours. Does the fan engage every recipe? I know you said it is a safety for overheating but I wouldn't think just making a recipe as it instructs me to do would overheat it. Thank you.

Funny thing is, Nespresso Korea(in South) inform to consumer, Cappuccino is no foam originally, hahahah. :(

Hi Michael! Thanks for the great videos, as a matter of fact, both barista videos helped me a lot. I’m planning to get a barista for myself.
Any regrets after purchasing that?

is the fat in the milk that make the foam, if you take away the fat it will not work very well

Michael, I posted the following comment below under the Nespresso you tube clip on how to make hot milk recipes ( you can’t with any certainty here in the UK). I’m glad to see that you have reached a similar conclusion and that it is not just me - thanks for your post.

The best way to make a hot recipe is to use a different machine. In the UK here I have tried Aldi milk (doesn’t work - no froth or flat white at best), Tesco or Sainsburys milk (inconsistent results - probably 10% success rate for cafe latte or cappuccino in terms of froth). If this was my sole frothing device I would have sent it back. I also have a Nespresso Creatista (Sage machine). This machine is great for hot recipes with its steam wand but does not produce a cold milk froth. On the plus side the Barista produces excellent cold milk froth recipes and therefore complements the Creatista. For this reason I have kept it, however if you don’t have a machine with a built in milk frother I would recommend going for one of the Aerocino frothers that do hot and cold froth instead.
It feels like this machine has been tested in a different market (US?) and just dumped on the UK market. Nespresso’s technical help desk which are generally excellent have been below par when it comes to sorting out this problem. After numerous abortive attempts with the machine using different milk brands and ensuring that the milk is only just opened (at its freshest) I have virtually given up on hot recipes.
It is also disappointing that there is nothing in the manual or online (to the best of my knowledge) that indicates what setting you can use to just froth the milk you’ve got without linking it to a recipe.
Of the 20 odd recipes they all use skimmed (0%) or semi-skimmed (2.5%) milk, with the exception of one which uses full fat cream (double cream I assume). So what if I have single cream (half fat?) or whole milk (5%?) and just want a hot or cold milk froth - how does the Barista deal with that? It must be capable I would have thought, however everything is “recipe” driven and there are no recipes using these milks or cream.
Update - after watching this clip I thought I would try Sainsburys whole milk (3.8g / 100ml - 3.8%?) It produced a lovely hot smooth froth. By the way I have taken to purchasing my milk for coffee in 1 pint cartons now so that it is always recently opened, as opposed to using a 4 pint carton opened 3 or 4 days ago.

I just had a same problem. My solution is used a very cold milk or apply 2 ice cubes in a jug, I think it can help you too.

Age of the milk is also an issue- get as fresh as possible as the protein in the milk is the factor.

My barista also has the same problem, and CS told me I have to use whole milk for hot recipe, such as cappuccino. For cold recipe, I can use skim milk or semi skim milk

iv found skimmed red top milk works for me oddly enough , the less fat content you have in your milk the better , the fat in milk weighs the froth down and dose not make it foam up to a creamy consistency, so try fully skimmed red top milk, see if that works for you

I have issues with my Barista too! It’s curious, I’ve tried with skimmed and semi-skimmed milk (fresh and UHT), and I got the same results with both: the machine does a perfect super-creamy froth in cold recipes, but doesn’t makes any froth in hot recipes. I think it could be a temperature issue: the machine gets too hot and the froth dissolves itself. This happened with my first machine, I told the consumer service and they replaced it with a new one... that has the same exact problem!!

I don’t know if the problem can be the temperature, or the milk I use (I have not tried with whole milk), or something. Anyway, if it persists, I will return it again and ask for a money refund.

Wow. I just got done watching your other vid on this machine and was thinking that I’d hafta have it, but I’m not keen on buying a different milk, as I use skim right now that has 11grams of protein per cup. Strangely, my Nespresso Aeroccino from several years ago works great with the skim milk. Thanks for the update!

I don’t get why does the whisk gets damaged (and needs replacing) after such a short period of usage ? If the whisk needs to be replaced every each 2-3 months of usage than it sucks. 😟

Mine does the same! Only work with whole milk. I talk to customer service today it supposed to work with semi skimmed milk too. They advice me to return and get a new one and test it first before I take it home to save some time in case , so I’ll return it tom for an exchange :(

My machine does not froth at all. Their older machines work better. This is going to become a huge issue if they can’t fix this. I’m talking mine back.
