On Linux using RAM as its own Swap space is a possibility and it runs great!

You have misconceptions about swap and page files, at the end of my tutorial I'll let you have the actual solution for what you're trying to do, the information I'm about to tell you is directly from landy wang iin a private conversation I had with him a couple of decades ago, you can look for the article I wrote in the subject way back under "understanding virtual memory:

The swap and page file is only for new information that doesn't have an image on disc, for instance, if it's an exe or dll, there's no reason to re-write the image, the os knows where it came from, this has always been the case since NT, the entire internet had it wrong for what page and swap files do,

Here's your actual solution, you can pick up a ram driven storage array,, iit acts as an SSd drive but is self powered ram, then just use that as storage for the programs and files you want to be 100 times faster than the SSD...done

to avoid getting this flagged ss spam I wont post a link or brand, but just search for ram powerered storate array, you'll find it, come back let everyone know how that goes for you

What about using the $31k ssd from a few videos back i wonder if that would be fast enough with the direct storage API

That's pretty cool if you have a very specific problem, access to extra ssd's, no money for ram, and for some reason running too much shit

One point that I feel should be touched on at the end about forgoing the swap file is that swap is used to hibernate your system. RAM is considered volatile memory, because without power you can't guarantee what's stored there after the computer is powered off. When your computer hibernates, it writes state information and dumps the information stored in ram to the swap file before fully powering off. While some people prefer not to use a swap file, they are also the same people who don't want to hibernate their computer, and know enough to make this decision. If you don't know whether you want/should hibernate or not, you lose very little by having a swap file until you learn enough to feel confident with your decision one way or the other.

You should always have a swap set in Windows, this is because Windows reserves memory for programs, and memory assigned to programs are not always used, but Windows still needs to assign all requests to a memory page. if there is no swap, you end up having a bunch a memory that is empty but unusable because it is assigned. This will cause, for example, a 16GB ram system to run out of memory when there is only about 10-12gb actually used. So it is a really bad use of your pricey ram, the same will happen at any amount of ram, 32Gb may run out at about 26GB, it really depends on whats running. If you have 64GB then you may not care, but you are not going to be able to use all that.
Anyway, having any form of swap will fix that issue, just a few GBs so Windows can assign unused memory pages to it and then move it to real ram when needed.

Also i wanted to share a story, a friend of mine always told me he was running AAA games just fine with just 4GB of ram... yeah, what was actually happening there is that he has a NVME drive and the NVME was fast enoght and the virtual memory was doing its job really well, until i told him to stop doing that and buy more ram because he was kiling the NVME drive using it in that way.

Using swap files is huge for steam deck, it can make certain games be way more stable, while it has 16gb of actual ram, that ram is shared between the cpu and gpu since the steam deck uses an APU

This is a really good video for an introduction to swap space. One thing worth mentioning is another factor reducing the use of swap space besides cheaper RAM is the prevalence of SSD.
When your swap space was on a HDD it was slow but didn't have any side affects other than a loss of 16 - 32GB of capacity to a swap partition, however since swap experiences a lot of random reads and writes there is a good chance it'll impact the lifespan of an SSD it's put on.
