Its so nice to see down to earth recommendations, right now 12900k is 200 usd cheaper! Just for a 10% performance increase is ridiculous

Frame Chasers: "7950X is losing by 25% to 13900K, go look at my last benchmarks"
Also Frame Chasers: own benchmarks shows 7950X is losing 1-10% with exception of Riftbreaker which runs like shit when AMD CPU + Nvidia GPU
My dude you call everyone else a fanboy, yet your own numbers don't back your own words. And I am ignoring the fact that one uses motherboard and memory twice as expensive (which is fine if you want the best, but it's entire different tier). Where do you get confidence in saying 7950x3D/7800x3D won't destroy 13900K when again your own benchmarks show 5800x3D had very large uplift in many of the games compares to 5800X? Do you have some technical knowledge about why x3D won't scale well Zen 4 that we don't?

Interesting thing with turning off the E cores, while yes, you'll gain fps at lowest settings 1080p in SoTR, you'll also lose even more performance if you turn the settings up to High/Highest preset. In my testing I hit 309 fps E cores off vs 301 E cores on, but on the highest preset I got 285 fps E cores on vs 248 fps E cores off. So, if your playing 4k high/max settings don't turn off E cores. I ran multiple passes to prove this because I wasn't expecting it either.

Fam, I have a weird issue with my b-die Vipers since I upgraded my MSI Z690-A PRO with a 13900k: xmp 1 freezes the system, xmp 2 asks me to adjust CPU to 101,32 or some weird number and I get stable 3782 MHz DDR4 with what seems random timings to me - no 19-19-19 for this sorry f*** right here TT

Any1 can give my a hint if an bios update might fix that in the future or what elseI can do?

1080/1440p with 13900k/7950x and rtx 4090....What a waste of money tbh
If you want to go for this conf it's definitly for 4k+, like sim triple screens.

It's also a waste of money to take the 13th generation when it's quite possible that the 14th generation will arrive at the end of 2023.

Great comparison! But how does the 13900k compare to the 13700k if both of them run at exactly the same clock speed? I'm assuming the difference would be minimal if there is any at all.

nice honest straight to the point reviews. some good ddr4 will get you a long way maybe even skip ddr5 completely. I totally agree. I feel like ddr5 was overhyped just like 5G was. Gigabyte tachyon z790 just got some 9300 ddr5 memory speeds. Might be worth comparing with the fastest ddr4 (5333 I believe) and the lowest latency ddr4 possible. What I want to see is how the fastest ddr4 (5333) compares with the lowest latency ddr4, and then see how the currently fastest ddr5 (9300) compares to some more mainstream low latency ddr5 and then the results between these 2 generations. Is it worth going for the 5333 or just stick to some good 3200 or 3600 or 4100 ddr4? (surely will depend on price and % differences in performance) or invest a bit more and go for ddr5 (but mainstream affordable low latency ddr5 or its worth waiting for the high speeds 9000+ to drop in prices because the performance % difference will start to actually matter, which I doubt will be the case as we've seen with memories so far, but maybe those rly high speeds will start making a difference?).
Edit: Might be worth just waiting for 13900ks and zen 4 3d v-cache and then seeing what the fastest ddr5 speeds attained have become and doing the tests then. Or just do these tests now with what we have and update later when these products launch as its still like 2 months plus away.

If you live near a Micro Center go with Ryzen 7000. They are giving 32gb of DDR5 for free if you purchase a cpu and $50 off a motherboard. That's quite the deal if you want a brand new platform.

You speak as if people upgrade their CPU's every single generation. Who the hell can be arsed to do that?

I work in IT, have my own home server along with lord knows how many other PC's in the house, and am generally the biggest nerd I know. But I will never start upgrading my CPU's every 6 months - that' crazy.

I got an i9 13900KF, but I upgraded from an i9 10900K. That's 3 gens, and STILL it was kind of a waste. But I move all my hardware down the chain, so my 10900K is now in my home server, the 8700K I had in there in a 3rd PC, etc.

Was thinking of picking up a 4090 but ultimately decided to upgrade my platform. Went from a z390, i9 9900k and 32gbs of ddr4 ram to a z790, 13900k and 32gbs of ddr5 ram. I have 3080 and wasn't hurting for performance at 1440p. I'm happy with the decision I made. Running at 6.1ghz and temps are manageable.
