my hyken has locked in the upright position. Does anyone know how to free it up?
ОтветитьPro Tip: Flip the Dexley over, take the 3 backrest screws out. Next, take a metal drill bit, and lengthen the adjustment slots, so that the backrest can be moved in up to 1.5" more. This provides a better upright seated position. Also, if you add locking washers under the screws for the backrest you just drilled, face the thickest part of the locking washers towards the back of the chair. This actually angles the backrest a little bit more forward when secured. If you do both of these tweaks, you'll appreciate the chair much more.
Ответитьthe dexley arms can be closer you have to push them in b4 u screw them
Ответитьthat hyken chair used to be like 100 something... nowadays its 400+
ОтветитьI thought hyken had a head rest
ОтветитьThis video is wonderful! Thank You!
ОтветитьIt's interesting that the website lists the Hyken as not able to recline, but says that the Dexley can.
Ответить……I'm exactly 5'10'' so this consufused me now, and I'm a bit overweight so I guess I should choose Dexley?
ОтветитьPut it this way I’m 6’3 and the dexley headrest is still to short for me just wasted $200
ОтветитьUpdate: ended up selling the dexley. Tried a Herman miller aeron size b for 3 months. Wasn't a big fan of the mesh and lined plastic (can't put feet up). Got the steelcase gesture (Wirecutter's top chair). This chair is amazing. So happy with it. Paid $850 tho so def not cheap. My work paid for it 🙏.
ОтветитьYou can remove the headrest on the hyken?
ОтветитьMy only question is that I have a cat, and It loves resting on my chair. Sometimes when she jump up to the chair she doesn’t quite make the mark and likes to dig her nails and pull herself up. Can I even have this chair?
Ответитьyikes, on CA, these are 299 hyken, 279 dexley
Ответитьthank you
ОтветитьSo helpful! thanks!
ОтветитьDONT BUY THE DEXLEY(AND MAYBE THE HYKEN)
I have a dexley and its one of the worst chairs I have ever used. In only 1 week I noticed the mesh seat sagging in, 3 weeks later my ass could touch the plastic at the bottom (I'm only 170 btw). I still have the dexley and have had it for over 5 months and I have to sit way back in the seat so I don't get any pressure points on my ass. Also the piston sucks ass, every time I sit down it makes a super loud noise and it gets even louder when I get up (it came in like that btw, fresh out of the box). Not only that, every time I sit down the piston sags down noticeably, that's the main reason it makes that noise when I sit down and get up. One last thing for some reason it makes a really loud cracking/clicking noise when I lean over and back.
Did you correctly name the chairs? Everywhere else, the hyken chair looks like the one on the left.
ОтветитьThanks!
Ответитьthe staples carder mesh is not bad, i think the headrest option should be added to the carder mesh and it would be the better chair
Ответитьwhat if you are exactly 5"10 :/
ОтветитьNate according to other videos the armwrest width can be adjusted at assembly for the dexley
ОтветитьI sat in both chairs the other day at my local Staples store, and although I'm 5'3", 150lbs, the Hyken chair felt way too small and boxed me in. The Dexley is much roomier and I found it to be far more comfortable. I'm currently sitting in a brand new Aeron Gaming Chair, size B, and after a week, I just can't find a way to be comfortable in it. IKR! Shocking. Maybe it's my physique, or spinal alignment, but for $1500 you'd think I'd feel like I was floating on a cloud. At the very least, my talibone pain is gone, so there's that. I I ordered the Dexley and will try it for a week and see if it's the chair for me.
A commenter to your video mentioned the Tempur-Pedic 6450 mesh back/fabric chair that Staples sells as his chair of choice. I may look into that if the Dexley doesn't do it for me, but the whole point of getting a mesh chair is for airflow. In all honestly, the upper-end fabric/leather office/manager chairs were amazing to sit in, especially the BeautyRest one, but the fact that the arms are stationary, and that I would get hot in them, take them off the table for me.
Thanks for your review. It's excellent and so low-key :)
I think the perfect combo of the Dexley and Hyken is the Tempur Pedic 6450. I just got it yesterday after trying out the Hyken and Dexley at Staples and the Tempur Pedic chair is the perfect combo for me. It has an adjustable base, adjustable armrests in height, a headrest, tilt back and lock, and adjustable lumbar.
Ответитьwalked in a staples today to try both... Im a similar build as you, basically the dexley is too clumsy and I hate the lack of recline lock, while the hyken is too short for my height (width perfectly fine though), although I couldn't try it without the headrest. The headrest in the hyken is unusable for my body type...
it feels to me that staples needs to come up with a dexley sized hyken, if you know what i mean: The exact same design as a hyken, but for taller folk. The dexley just has too many design flaws to justify purchasing....
Thanks for the video!
ОтветитьI'm 5'6 3/4 so the arm rest doesn't go down far enough when my feet are flat on the floor at a 90% angle, I think my arms aren't long but I may have a shorter torso. The problem is it hunches my shoulders up because the armrest doesn't sit low enough for me.
ОтветитьYou need a door stopper...
ОтветитьHey Nate, Buy the Dexley and the Hyken. Assemble the Dexley using the base plate from the Hyken.
Ответитьgreat job
Ответитьdamn i didn’t find this video on time, I bought a 4000 series chair for my room but then went to IKEA and bought their Markus chair, now im stuck with two chairs bc idk what’s good
Ответитьawesome review! Staples should have this vid linked on the chair’s page haha. How are they holding up? any other staples chairs you’d try/recommend?
ОтветитьI feel like you have the two names mixed. I just bought the Hyken and it looks exactly the chair you keep calling the Dexley. Maybe they did a revamp since March?
ОтветитьI came into my local Staples specifically to get the Hyken but ended up leaving with a Dexley. It was 20 dollars more but I wasn't boxed in super hard by the arms like I was with the Hyken. They were both EASILY the most comfortable chairs in the whole store though, even beating out the meme gaming chair that they had. Was worth it 100%.
ОтветитьI'm fat and love the Dexley
ОтветитьHyken for me felt like a kids size chair, and the Dexley was also, a bit small feeling... I am only 6'1 and the headrest was too low... the slight lean it has is super annoying and promotes slouching to get comfortable. the construction it, well, is very confusing, why have adjustment screws for the seat bottom if the bar gets in the way, causing me to sit on the plastic frame. very disappointed after seeing these great reviews for it...
ОтветитьJust got the dexley and it’s amazing.
ОтветитьI think the hyken would be better for me since I have bad posture and want the 90 degree angle
ОтветитьU think these are better then gaming chairs ?
ОтветитьWhere’s the headrest on the hyken?
ОтветитьI have the Dexley and I love it!
ОтветитьGreat review thanks
ОтветитьDo you think the hyken or dexley would be more comfortable for me if I’m 5’10 and around 200 lbs? Thanks in advance!
ОтветитьI have had my Dexley for a week now. At first it was amazing. However, the seat frame on the sides of the seat made my hips pretty sore after about the first hour of use. I just couldn't get comfortable after that. Slapped a nice cushion down over the seat, and presto... KILLER SEAT!!! I tightened up the recline tension to the max, and it more or less the negates the play in the backrest while in the locked position. I'm 6'0" and the headrest is just short and too far back while upright, but when the chair reclines, it is perfect. Pretty awesome for $149.
Ответитьdo you recommend the dexley for smaller people? And by smaller I mean 5’
ОтветитьWhy doesn't your Hyken have a head rest lol?
ОтветитьThanks for the info. Just ordered the Dexley as I’m about 6’4 and the Hyken seems to be too small for me.
ОтветитьThe Dexley looks nicer, but I'd prefer the ability to do a 90 degree upright position like the Hyken. Oh well.
Ответитьthanks for doing this review
