Nothing changed you just sped up the pace at which you spoke. Your accent didn't change at all. We speak very flat monotone and we don't end our sentences on an upward pitch unless it's a question. All of our ending sentences are down in pitch

I'm American, and have taught ESL for a long time in other countries. I try to teach 'universal' English. It's not important to have an American or British English.
Reducing accents is fine. The whole point is simply to be understood . I think accents are beautiful

If you want to sound american, think lazy. Seriously. Dont overpronounce things, just try to say it as shortened as possible with minimal effort. Once you become a pro you can move on to nonsensical sounds for communication like "bruh" or "aight"
