I worry about anyone reviewing a truck, and keeps calling it a car.... :)

For those interested in how Australian prices for these are inflated here is the price in Thailand for a bi turbo Wildtrak. AUD 58,400 There’s no v6 here yet.

For me, the V6 would cost an extra $1800 of fuel in 5 years. Cost vs performance, and I'm still in the fence 😐

Sorry but heated Seats are just not applicable to Australia, (maybe in some snow resorts or winter in Tasmania)
I mean the car is fully warmed up and heater on cab is like 22*C when you drive off in morning seats will be like 15-20*C.

After all as its Turbo you cant Just drive off in morning until engine at full temp, well you can but you CANNOT use boost until oil is atleast 75-80*C
Which means about no more than 2000 rpm in gear.

Unless you dont care if turbo dies in 100,000km then kills engine when it grenades itself.
Considering good modern turbos last Well over 350,000 KM when looked after.

I was looking at the road thinking that it was very familiar. Then it dawned on me, it’s the Honda facility at St. Ives. I used to work for the local council that took care of it between the police no longer using it and Honda coming in. Did quite a few flying laps in various vehicles after hours 😂. Great fun long ago

If you get the Bi Turbo with 10 speed it is not slow at all 'for a ute' because the very low gear and close ratio, plus a few overdrive gears. I test drove a 2.0 Bi turbo 10AT Everest here in Thailand and am surprised by the acceleration from 0-120km/h. Once reached 120km/h the overdrive gear settle the engine speed down to about 1500rpm, can bearly hear the diesel, more wind noise and road noise, which are also minimal at this speed. For long ride it should be pleasant.
The weaker 2 liter with 6AT is a very different story though.
The new Raptor with the 3.0L twinturbo V6 is a beast. It is not sportscar fast but it is a supertruck.

Is it true with prolonged exposure to water crossings and corrugations the electric steering rack fails and a new genuine ford ranger electronic steering rack costs 8 to 10 grand if you can find one ?

I got my 4cyl Wildtrak and its friggin amazing., Sure the V6 would be nice but the extra power and 4A isnt a massive deal breaker.

IMO if you want to wait and pay the extra, go for the V6 but the 4banger can tow and carry just as much as the V6 and is insanely capable. I only ever thought that a motorbike would leave me grinning after a day on the road but this thing is amazing.

The biturbo Ford 2.0 with the 10sp is a fantastic unit, simply all you need in a car like this, including Everest.

So then why not just buy the top spec GWM, isn’t it a 2 litre turbo diesel for under $47000?

So Ford moved the wheelbase 50mm forward so that they could fit a Hybrid Electric motor in that 50mm space. So the Hybrid version is coming.

They are a lot better than the previous model. I’ve order the wildtrak but would have liked to have seen the top dash glovebox on the XLT also for my staff and a headsup display on the wildtrak don’t know why they didn’t do this as standard.

2020 Ranger Raptor here and 28k km on the odo. More than happy with the 2.0l biturbo. The vehicle is already huge and tall and I do not need to be any quicker and faster for its size. Rhe new one is too bulky, but I like the full time 4wd and the tilted steering wheel, thats all.

Really wished you had the two side by side. From the comments you made at the end, it sounds like you are assuming the V6 will be better because it is on paper. Doesn't sound you've actually compared the two side by side.

The load testing request as mentioned on other comments. Pick up a 2nd hand 1000;t water container (will fit in the tub), put in the tub empty and fill it with water. there is your load. you can even change/adjust the load easily. Then strap it down. Tests a lot of items for anyone actually going to use these utes/trucks for work or the occasional large load. Just an Idea for testing.

The biggest advantage of the V6 other than the full time 4WD is NVH levels. It's a far smoother, quieter and nicer drive than the 2.0L. If you chip and exhaust the V6 (Not for everyone) you will wake it up. I also think long term re-sale value will be far better with the V6.

This segment makes no sense. It’s not a sports car. It’s huge and rides worse than a suv and it stops slower than a tank. It had a Tesla like central screen for people who work in mud. I can’t anymore with people.
