To each their own. I love the magnifier on my King Manta, and my King Turtle. Great video on a great watch!
ОтветитьThought about buying King Turtle but I really don't like the magnifier. Got the SRPE93K1 Turtle instead. No magnifier, costs slightly less, simple black, white and polished look.
ОтветитьGood post! I agree! Thanks.
ОтветитьI have one, I love it.
ОтветитьDay date is a no go for me.
ОтветитьI'm getting a bit sick of these YT 'experts' continuously referring to the Seiko 5's as dive watches or as the SKX replacements.....they are neither, so stop judging them as such, they are just Seiko sports watches that's it.
ОтветитьThe OD Green model number is SRPE05.
The Black one is SRPE03.
I have a waffle king samurai and a Dark Manta stingray King turtle. Turtle all day . Despite the size it fits my 6.25 inch wrist but the king samurai is just too bulky for my wrist. I am trying to let it grow on me but it is hard. I tried turtle design by starting with a steel dive captain willard homage and I was surprised how comfortable it feels. I have Sumo hulk which is more bulkier but sits on my wrist just right despite the size but. Tuna is also a good one. I have the urban safari street series and its cute same as ice antarctica monster sits perfectly on my wrist. Only problem with seiko is that they have notorious misalignment. The kamasu was my first diver on the collection before having an skx. Planning to sell my second sumo hulk, steel dive captain willard homage and my Orient Kamasu.
Ending up with 6 seiko on my collections.
SKX007, Waffle Black King Samurai, Dark Blue Manta King Turtle, Sumo Hulk, Ice Antarctica Monster and lastly urban safari street series tuna.
My wish list would be:
Captain Willard
Smaller Samurai maybe if they release a mini Red Dial Samurai.m to replace the large one.
Orange SkX013
Red. A mini shogun to complete the japanese named divers probably.
I just ordered one from Seiko yesterday, 600.00. Sold my 3 Rolex's and Deep Blue watches and some Vostok Europe, I had a collection, now Seiko is getting my business, this color caught my eye, had to have it.
Ответить“A reminder of what Seiko used to be” bro it’s a new watch
ОтветитьJust order the manta ray but worried its going to be too big, i should of tried it on first
ОтветитьLooks nice but after having to send my broken SSK back to Seiko twice in 6 months at my own expense and no response from customer service Seiko can stick it where the sun don't shine.
ОтветитьYou say the screw-in crown is "gritty" and I own a Steeldive SD1972 which is their homage to this watch (mine has the blue sunburst dial and blue bezel) apparently that Steeldive is really a close homage because my crown was gritty also. The CURE: Mark from Long Island Watch did a video (stupid me forgot the title) but he recommends a cheap and easy fix: get some waxed dental floss. It can be thin but it MUST be waxed. Then take several inches of that, unscrew the crown (you don't have to pull it out any farther!) and carefully (it helps to have three hands) thread the waxed dental floss around the screw threads. Go back and forth a few times, get a new length, go all the way 'round a few times on different threads, pulling the dental floss back and forth.
A small amount of wax will rub off and deposit itself on the threads. Then you screw the crown in and out a couple of times and presto! My crown screw action got much smoother! Lol. The small amount of wax on the threads will not hurt the watch or the crown assembly. It works perfectly, takes about 5-10 minutes tops, and it's cheap.
I suppose you could also use a TINY amount of "reassuringly expensive" Bergeon grease, as long as it won't degrade anything made of steel or rubber.
You made a nice video here, very well done. What's also nice about this watch is the shape of the lower part (polished high gloss) of the case. It kind of makes a "cushion" shape and helps prevent the watch/crown from digging into your flesh when you pronate your hand.
i wear mine just about every day to work and it looks it, it defiantly has become one of my beater watches. they should have called it Tank not Turtle. I'm a watch guy, i prolly have all the department store brands. lol i also have a few high ends. love autos and mechanical. nice job on the video, u can tell u put time into making it, thank u for your time.
ОтветитьIs this watch good enough to wear with a suit?
ОтветитьWay too large of a watch
ОтветитьWhy did they replace the SRPE777 with this Model?
ОтветитьPicked mine up for £470 at my local, love it. Aqquired a few nice straps to change it up.
ОтветитьI just got mine ,and must say it’s epic plus I picked mine up brand new for£250 genuine happy days
ОтветитьKing Turtle is in EU in every single store 600 to 700€,there is no chance in hell to buy this watch under 500, even if you could in JDM or online you would pay vat and shipping and then had 700€ watch.
ОтветитьI wish it was 50mm
ОтветитьHey guys I have mine running for 11 days now and I have lost 3 minutes! It is losing almost 16 seconds a day, every day. It seems that is within specs technically but usually Seiko watches are much more accurate in general. Is it something that I should be looking for or is it just the luck of the draw? Is this enough reason to return it?? Thank you in advance !for any thoughts.
ОтветитьGreat insightful review ! I absolutely adore my SRP03(black face). It’s become my favorite. I find myself not wearing my IWC, my omega as this is so comfortable on my wrist. Thinking of getting the green grenade.
ОтветитьFinally bought a made in Japan King Turtle, an SRPE39 Save The Ocean model last month for $387. I like Heimdalr and Steeldive homages for a fraction of the price of a Seiko that have NH36 movements, sapphire and ceramic bezel insert.
ОтветитьI actually want it because it has the cyclops
ОтветитьI actually like the 5KX. I agree that Orient Kamasu is a better choice due to 200m WR and a screw down crown but for someone whos not diving the 5KX is amazing and imho looks better than the Kamasu. The only downside I see is the lack of Saphire honestly. No matte how people defend the hardlex its not nearly as scratch resistant as Saphire. I hace SNKL43 and it has a few scratches on the glass despite not being hit anywhere.
ОтветитьI think that I have been sexually harassed. 😶
ОтветитьThe dive bezel is not meant to align chapter rings. ITS A DIVE BEZEL!!! It aligns perfectly on the minute hand. Just rotate it and cook eggs. If someone wants that kind of alignment, buy a Willard.
ОтветитьI really wish they had gone with a steel second hand, maybe with a lollipop, or some tho else, just not gold. The textured dial looks really bad, lazy and cheap. I’d rather a matte dial with silver hands. If it had that, I might be more interested.
ОтветитьIs it me or he sound like the guy from the film theory
ОтветитьI’m soooo Jonesing for one of these. I have a smaller wrist so I thought it would be to big, but I tried one on and it’s a really good fit. This is definitely the next watch I buy.
ОтветитьA brilliant review Jory, i bought one on the basis of it, OK and a couple of other reviews, but it is what Seiko were known for, VFM watches that just ran and ran. The design is a modern classic Dive/divers watch and is a great replacement for the now sadly out of production classic SKX Divers 200's with the updates/mods that were all that was/were really needed?
Ответитьi accept this kiss , no homo .
ОтветитьI just snatched one for the same price as SSK00x... lol
ОтветитьIn the intro, the second picture after the seiko 5's. The one on the far right. Can you please tell me the model of that one. It's really bulky. Thanks!!
ОтветитьI owned this watch, and its pretty accurate, love the day date magnifier b'coz someday its a big help to me when my eyes are getting older
Ответитьthe waffle dials look cheap to me, not a fan
ОтветитьHello, could you suggest a couple of tough and heavy-duty watches that can take anything that is thrown at them? My wrist is big enough for most watches
ОтветитьI love this watch, but I’m biased as Ive owned this watch for nearly two years, still amazing, super comfy wear, ridiculously hard to get hold of in the uk (400 mile round trip to get mine) and takes a real beating.
ОтветитьNot really fair that you showed the three new GMTs when you mentioned the Seiko 5 at the start of the video. Maybe the non-GMT 5 is a rip off of the SKX, but it’s not right to include the GMTs in this description.
ОтветитьHow about the Save the ocean Manta Ray? What can you say about it? it technical has the same specs.
ОтветитьGreat review as usual, I bout one, a
ОтветитьDo a review of the Turtle Homages. The Chinese brands seem to be fairly competitive on detail, quality and of course lower prices.
ОтветитьI picked up my King turtle on ebay brand new free shipping from Time Spot for $324.00. Shipped to Seattle wa in 6 days! Not to shabby.
ОтветитьFinally treated myself to one of these a few weeks ago after watching this vid (any many others) and I love it. I have several seiko 7002's and 5's and this feels like a legit step up in terms of quality, in terms of case, dial, bezel and saphire. Cyclops doesn't bother me, unlike some watches I have which come with cyclops, I haven't had the issue where the day&date/date isn't clear unless you look at it from a ridiculously specific angle so I stopped noticing it early on. Kept it on the rubber as holes fit perfectly for my size, love this chunky monkey on my wrist :D
standard seiko QC issues ; bezel and markers are perfectly alligned, bought it brand new off ebay so got lucky considering I couldn't see the specific piece until it arrived, but I paid considerably below RRP so happy - there is a tiny spec of dust on the second hand towards the lume - Do i notice it? Do I fuck. Absolute steal if you find one online below RRP, which doesn't seem uncommon.
I'd love a midsize of this
ОтветитьBought my green dial about a year ago. Excellent watch…especially with a Strapcode bracelet.
ОтветитьSeiko 6309 6105 the best
The X on the dial is not my thing but is an incredible watch
I purchaded SRPE35K1 last year King Samurai. A great watch as well!!!
