Why is my car making a knocking/ ticking noise (while accelerating) ?

You forgot diesel injector knock which can sound like rod knock but it's actually injectors overfueling or sticking open and making a tick

I have a question...what if your car is ticking while slowing down? I took it to the mechanic and he told me that there's no ticking when he "took it for a drive " . Meanwhile my fiancé and father in law both agreed there's ticking while slowing down.

I don't work on cars but for safety use a pipe about half inch to 1" thick and approximately 1-2 foot long 1 side to your ear 1 side to the engine or where you think the noise is coming from ..... . besides low oil It's usually one of these things that he did not mention 1) definitely low oil HE SAID THAT
2) lifters
3) Head gasket
4) crack in the head
5) Crack in the engine block
6) Overheating
7) Blown engine // Engine can't be fixed has to be replaced or rebuilt ... I like this guy he has potential and seems like a cool guy to have a beer with and watch a football game ... i don't mind him being blunt with me .. I've done things that made me look bad or stupid
but those are the best teaching experiences ... It's not that we fall we all do It's can we endure the fall take Criticism and learn from the whole thing

So mine idles fine but knocks when accelerating and locating the sound is a joke. Sometimes it sounds like it's directly under the floor between the front seats, other times it sounds like the front end on the passenger side. Imagine if you had a stick or something jammed in the tire and it's rhythmically smacking the wheel well.

I drive a 2021 toyota highlander and whenever I'm driving on the road I keep hearing this ticking noise on like my right side I don't know what's causing it like while I drive the car shakes a little and then makes that noise..

i used regular gas, they didn't have premium gas . now even so i got premium the valve nokcking doesn't go away

my 1999 ford festiva ticked while accelerating, got a new cv shaft and a logbook service and it went away, just the other day I put a new exhaust in, center muffler exhaust, and straight piped the original muffler, I just refilled my tank and its back again. I'm so dam confused

Fantastic advice .If you don't know what it is take it to someone else. Mine started ticking at 80 mph. When I reach 88 mph I stopped the car and realised I was back in the 1950's. Thanks for the advice.
