Second video of yours and I'm duly impressed. Especially with that final bit of commentary. The dehumanization of each other is one of the many reasons why we doomscroll. It's painful to be dehumanized, so we look for scapegoats. Actually REhumanization each other is much more effective at solving the worlds problems than any of the technology that we think will save us. Re-sacralizing life in all its complexity, beauty and contradictions is how we expand our consciousness and create a better future.

With experience, there comes clarity. Just during my life, world was about to end on the January 1st 2000, after 9/11, in 2012, after the events of 2014, with COVID, a year ago..... Not only is the world still spinning, but the only instance I almost died in that time was due to my own stupidity. I have never felt safer. The best help in this case is to remember how many times they told you you'll die before. Once you realize this, the next message of doom will actually prolong your life, because laughter does that.

"Not having kids to save the world" logic -> because not everyone is gonna have the will to do this so for each kid not born, there's gonna be more ressources, more space, more available jobs for the others in this already crowded world, hence more chances of a better future for humanity.
Alternatively; saving the world, not for future humans, but to save the world itself.

Such a great video with an important message thats only getting more and more important! I see many of my peers, the people my age, being more and more miserable about all different kind of things, making them apathetic and feeling hope- and helpless..
If we'd focus more about the good possibilities rather than all the unfairness and trouble, we'd gain hope rather than depression.

I've generally cut down on consuming the doom online, especially after that claustrophobic year of the pandemic (before vaccines finally came out). These days if I want doom...it's doom metal.

Arguing against having children for the sake of the environment is the secular equivalent of arguing that gaining the world is worth losing your soul.

A lot of people in the hardcore "doomer" parts of the internet absolutely do not want to save humanity, their predictions of doom often have this barely concealed (if concealed at all) sense of sadistic glee, a mentality of "just you wait!" as they breathlessly predict that famine will sweep the world or Russia will crush the west or Gaia will have her revenge. And often this ends up becoming a matter of left and right starting to "meet around on the doom side" with leftists who become too doompilled slipping into apocalyptic religious fantasies, reveling in the thought of mass violence, and sounding indistinguishable from fascists. I remember I knew it was time to stop reading one leftist blogger when he said "only death is real". Really? If your leftism sounds like the beginning of a Mayhem set your politics are totally fucked.

Doomscrolling is just having too much reality in your face. Don’t go down the path I did and realise that life runs and thrives on suffering

The almighty creator of the universe and all things said to be fruitful and multiply. I’m pretty sure he didn’t say that if he didn’t think that we will overpopulate the planet. Look at all the unused land in the United States alone. It trumps the occupied land by a landslide.

I don't equate doomscrolling specifically with any of these issues. Sure there are short form videos on the subjects mentioned, but isn't doomscrolling a larger category of any pointless time sucking scrolling?

Population Growth? It's Population Decrease all across the world and carbon emissions increasing would actually be a beneficial situation for the plant life/food crops of the world. Plants eat and grow from carbon dioxide right? So where is the problem because if there was an actual increase in co² emissions the plant life would grow faster and clean the atmosphere faster, the crops would yield more and that would help feed the needy and hungry on Earth. Science my Hoo-Haa!!!

I came upon this video right at a time when I needed it. I'm finally starting to heal, I'm a former doomscrolling addict. My whole family, espeically my granmda, are obsessed with talking about negative news and how the world is going to fall apart and we're all gonna be dead, etc. Like, I get we all die, but life is not supposed to be all doom and gloom. I finally had it and deleted my personal social media accounts, went totally anonymous adn cleaned my social media feeds up with only art and things I like. I'm more at peace and wake up feeling less anxious.

Oh dude! This is exactly what happened to me. I couldn't take it away more! I quit watching the news 100%. Now I'm not longer a rage fill trolls desperately trying to make everyone wake up. I had lost all hope or motivation. Now I watch happy people doing their own thing.

The last 2 minute of this video made me sob. I also have that doom view and maybe because of my own bias, I actually read that comment in a different tone, not in sense that you are contributing to the world’s doom, but you brought someone who will experience doom. (I’m 38 and still questionning brother ng ng a child to the world- probably another source of bias is where I grew up and what my family experienced). Nonetheless, it is not a thing that you would say to a stranger in the real world right away.
I was surprised to realize that I had the refugee percent wrong. It is kinda humbling to know that. I don’t know if you made this before the new war in Middle east or slightly after that. Coming from that region, all I see is chaos and destruction although I have a comfortable life in another place now. So it’s a little tough… but humbling to know that in reality, people are trying (corporates are not) and even behind an angry comment, is a real person who has experienced something I don’t know about.

With over a dozen years of working the audit shift at hotels (i.e. overnight, 3d shift), I can tell you this: people suck. The higher class hotel, the worse they are. That is why I no longer work in hotels. Whenever life seems a bummer, I go sailing, or listen to the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestral, or Anton Bruckner, of anything by Quantic, Zoltan & his Gypsy Ensemble, Fela Ransom Kuti &c, &c. If someone were to ask me that question about people being better or worse off, I would think about it for 12 3/4 minutes then ask, what do you mean by better or worse? I will say, however, that if I ever encounter someone playing the ukulele, I would probably push them down the stairs. Good video.
