No matter how much ice you put in the glass, the cocktail is always 32° F.

The martini goblet has the modernist clean, angular lines of the 1920s art deco movement. Modernism really begins in that period, or a decade prior

I found this both entertaining and informative. :) Thank you!

It's so much fun to find vintage barware, and it's nice to know what's what.

What capacity of ounces do you prefer for the martini glass?

I use either a rocks/double rocks or martini glass for cocktails at home.I have a couple Collins glasses but they are too tall & narrow for my liking

I generally follow the standard recipes for the cocktails. But sometimes, I change my glass type and so the standard recipes have been changing based on the wash-line of the glasses millilitre. In this situation, what do I do necessary to find the best wash line for the ingredients? For instance, whisky sour, 60cl Whisky, 25cl lime, 15cl simple sugar, 15ml egg-white. I want to prepare glass that has 400ml. But if I use standard recipes for this sour, there is a lot of space left in the glass. I don't want to fill this void with just ice. Changing the ratios without breaking them, I think, is the only thing that needs to be done here. Is this a suitable method?

Actually I've heard one interesting legend about rocks glass, it's about Scots thrift. It is said, that when in early days distilleries started delivering their whiskies to barkeeprs in bottles, not in casks, barkeeepers didn't want to throw away empty bottles, and they were cutting the lower part of the bottle and using it as a glass.

Pretty cool. I'd like to hear your take on Tiki glassware like a Pearl Diver glass or even wooden or resin tiki mugs.

Apart from the vast knowledge (which you and the other usual suspects on YT so generously share with us) and the access to different bottles of spirits, the thing I envy most is, I think, your glassware collections. There is something about serving a drink in the right glass, which can elevate the whole experience.

Fortunately I am able to find many of the Libbey glasses where I live and I have built a nice small selection. Then for others I always keep an eye out. The trickiest bit is to get the right capacity (in oz and ml).

Cheers again, thanks for sharing!

A very thoughtful video. My suggestion is that I like to know how much liquid each of my glasses will hold so that I can think about which one to choose for a particular drink. Not too small and not too large. The Cinderella effect. Perhaps not surprisingly, this has led me own quite a wide variety of glasses. My wife rolls her eyes at this, but our guests do not. As an aside, for those that are new to mixing craft cocktails, don't be afraid to pick up some "pretty" glasses at a second hand store. Very nice video. Thank you.

Is there a technical spec for double old-fashioned? Asking because Mai-Tai. I'm trying to find the perfect glass for it and I'm a little stumped. Love the channel as always.

Can you please do a segment on types of liquor that require refrigeration? I know there’s tons of articles and recommendations but a video that shows the variety of things that should always be kept in the fridge once open and with a life shelf expectancy would be $$$$$$!!!! (At least for this novice)

i just bought some wonderful Schott Zwiesel (barware series) Nick and Nora glasses from WestEnd. It's tritan crystal, but molded not blown (no visible seam) and very sturdy and inexpensive. Still looking for a couple of nice blown ones that are more elegant. Schott also makes a killer double old fashion blown. Very beautiful to serve anything in.

Wow. I was really surprised to find that most of my glasses are actually some of the glasses featured in this presentation. I guess the manufactures are in a win - win situation if the glasses they sell support both cocktails and normal home use. Thanks.

Loving this series! I’ve been building my home bar for just over 1 year using your cocktails and booze recommendations. For glasses I’ve been adding selections from each category that could have dual purpose such as a Collins glass that has tiki inspired markings and goes with a variety of drink styles. Great content!

Our home bar has all manor of glassware. We regularly go thrift store shopping. Glass and barware are the first things we look for. And as we "upgrade" we'll just drop of the one's we change out, at the local charity stores. Estate sales and garage sale, too.
