How to Repair Stone Chips a yours CAR HOOD/ Touch UP!!!

I have a few stone chips on my X5 in Titansilver metallic,nightmare to repair

What is the brand name of the hardener and where can I get it? I have the factory paint, but unsure about which hardener to mix into the paint. Thank you.

Is this something most repair shops can do? I keep reading about how difficult it is and how it will never look right, but I find it hard to believe that a competent auto body shop can't fix a small chip. My car just had a rock hit the door and I want it fixed as it's only six months old. Honestly, even if it's 90-95% better I would be happy. I just know from experience that touch up pens are terrible and it's difficult to make them uniform and flat.

Great work! I'm about to do the same on my Audi . Can I ask what is the block you're using to sand down the excess paint filled in the chip ?

So far I can only find touch up paint that is not acrylic and does not contain hardener. Please send link of where I can buy. Thank you

Hi, I used about same method in the past filling paint than a bit clear coat on top than wet sanding and than polishing and the bonnet looks like new painted so I know this method works!!! your method is less heavy on the paint, but you don't use clearcoat but hardener, can I also just make the mix of basecoat and clearcoat? or should it really be acrylic and harder? the degree of gloss then very much depends on the mix. I have already watched many other scratch repairs and videos from your channel but could not find the answer here.

Wow I never knew of this type of process for repairing road chips on paint ? Re: the paint acrylic is that something I ask for when ordering paint ? And do I order through dealer or online through aumotive supplier idk the results were awesome and looks easy just hv to take my time as you were saying.

Great job! Where can I get a sanding block that you're using? I live in the states and have a nice patina on the 50 yr old paint I'm fixing chips on. The car has not seen sun for over 34 years being inside a building so the paint is in fairly decent condition but having shop rash (scrapes) to correct. Thank you

why not first use a base coat, then 2K clear, then sand the clear with the denibbing tool?

Top work and keep it up. I have a question. If I order black metallic paint with pearl effect, the clear hardener is included separately and not incorporated into the paint. Could it also work as below or is the loose blank separately a problem for sanding.

1. fill stone chips with black paint

2. White hardener on black paint

3. Allow to dry for 24 hours

4. sand with mirca

What would you recommend if a rock chip is only as deep as the clear coat but your base coat still intact? Would you fill it in with base coat touch up still?

I can’t understand why the Mirka doesn’t scratch the surrounding paint.

What if I don’t have a polishing tool? Can it be done by hand polish

What if the rock chip has rust? How to remove prior to correction?
