I think that the problem is "hiphop" doesn't belong to anyone, but some people act like it does. Too many people posture as if they are speaking on behalf of hiphop without ever realizing no one cares about them or what they are saying except the people who already agree with them anyway. The majority of people who listen to the genre, that's the voice of hiphop not some arbitrary rapper or music industry rep and they voted with their wallets that Eminem is a legend. You can not like Pizza but understand that many many people do and its objectively a super popular food, now you can try to make arguments to people about why pizza is bad or overrated but mostly your just going to sound like an idiot and no one is going to care what you say and you will lose credibility on the topic of food.
