I know that Emily is a side character, but her story is so heartbreaking
ОтветитьThis is the less recognizable version of Alexis, I think even his voice is different, I guess around the age of 40 we all change a little.
ОтветитьHe's not her son
ОтветитьEmily deserves to live with her son for all the time. But instead she disappeared in the last season which makes no sense (they could've done it better even though Alexis wanted to leave)
ОтветитьA reminder that monsters are made not born children are the best of us. It's the world who breaks us and makes the Fred's of the world
ОтветитьI wish she had gotten more screen time in season five. I feel like she had one of the most interesting stories in Giliad.
ОтветитьI have dealt with mental health issues, my whole life. In no way shape or form. Am I comparing my own challenges to what Emily and the handmaid go through, but this scene could not have been more perfect when it comes to that first moment with Emily and her son. her son already knew that Emily had gone through some shit and therefore it wouldn’t be up to a hug right away. Because he said that allowed at the offset, Emily knows that she doesn’t have to explain and crucially that there are no expectations. Invalidates her trauma without her, needing to relive it anymore than she already does, and let’s her know that her wife is (to some extent, considering how young the kid is) open and honest about Emily’s reality.
ОтветитьDoes anyone know the name of the soundtrack that plays in the background of these scenes?
ОтветитьHow can you NOT hug your own child? No trauma in the World would negate that experience for me and most mothers. This particular script was obviously not written by a mother or parent for sure
ОтветитьShe gets better and better at acting
Ответить"I'm not supposed to hug you until you're ready." "How about we wait until we're both ready?" sobbing
ОтветитьI can’t believe how they wrote off Emily’s character in season 5! She would never head back to Gilead she loves her son and wife! UGH just rewatching this scene kills me it’s so beautiful yet so sad
ОтветитьThe way they wrote her off of the show was just silly. She would never leave her child again.
ОтветитьMmm-hmm. Yup. Come on, people. Time to turn Gilead upside down and ruin its whole day.
ОтветитьAlexis Bledel’s acting in this show is MAJOR
ОтветитьThis scene had me in complete tears three years ago. I was born into a conservative catholic family and growing up the modern world and education were condemned. I know the feeling of being harshly criticized for venturing into secular matters that the church forbids...its not the fear of punishment that would have scared me, but the fear of being an outcast.
Almost 12 years an atheist and I've never felt more alive and more confident.
Okay Emily. Now tell your wife about how you slept with and fell in love with other women while stuck in Gilead.
She didn't once think of you or your kid.
This is heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once 💔
ОтветитьI love reading and to be forbidden from doing it would just kill me. And to make matters even worse, she was a university lecturer and professor before Gilead took over; an intelligent woman forbidden to read.
ОтветитьNo show makes me cry as much as this one.
ОтветитьWhat a lot of people seem to miss is that this is probably the first book Emily has read since Gilead's creation.
ОтветитьNow that Alexis Bledel has revealed that she exit from the series, I think this was a good end for her character.
ОтветитьSo heartbreaking. So much emotion in this.
Ответитьthe amount of times I cried during this show
ОтветитьIm only just watching Gilmore Girls now its amazing her comedic timing and dramatic acting in this also her cameo in Mad Men. Alexis is a great actress
ОтветитьI feel like that was the first book she read since
ОтветитьPoignancy here: Emily reading to her son about dinosaurs in an age where any notable wild animal mentioned in the Bible can be assumed to be extinct (at least in the wild). Lions gone, leopards gone, onagers gone, addax gone, even the turtle dove is gone. Heartbreaking at that.
ОтветитьAlexis Bledel is magnificent! Every move, every facial expression, her eyes, her voice. Just superb ❤️
ОтветитьPutting the pieces together that she’s also my sweet RORI makes me so sad, brilliant acting
ОтветитьI absolutely sobbed at this whole scene. 🥺
ОтветитьI wish that instead of "I'm not suppose to hug you till you're ready" he said: can I hug you. And she said yes. I want more wholesome hugs. They deserve some good hugs
ОтветитьI love how Sylvia understands from the beginning it will be a long road for Emily she cannot begin to imagine what she has been through after all these years having her identity and her humanity stripped away from her and does everything to ensure she doesn’t trigger her not being too intimate or even sleeping in the same bed together
ОтветитьI feel so bad for Emily being removed from her family like she was and undergoing all that trauma (all of the women in gilead as well)
And her reading to her son must have been emotional for her and surprised she could still read as women in Gilead weren’t aloud and would have been punished 😔
I've watched this scene 10 times and still makes me bawl when she's trying to read the book. 😭😭😭
Ответить‘I’m not supposed to hug you till you’re ready’
I’m not crying, you are 🥺
It breaks my heart to see how they broke down Emily. She was such a strong women.
ОтветитьPlease this is so powerful
ОтветитьI don’t even like kids but that little boy is so sweet to Emily. Melted my cold dead heart.
ОтветитьI could ONLY imagine how awkward trying to resume your former life would be. Imagine the PTSD!!!
ОтветитьWhat a sweet little boy!
ОтветитьEmilys girlfriend taught him how to deal with her and ge just adaps it soo good and is so careful with her
ОтветитьThis scene makes me weep. Her son is so loving and truly represents freedom for Emily. He is her and her wife’s son. He is intelligent, considerate and polite of Emily’s boundaries, eager to get to know his mommy, and is patient and kind. After everything Emily went through he reminds her she is free.
ОтветитьHello
ОтветитьThis is why this series is disturbing at the same time. Perfectly written but disturbing. The system of Gilead ruined all the families, she could not watch her son grow for a long time, her loving wife is not also able to love her like she did 5 years ago. This is so sad. But I love her wife being so genuine letting her get that much close with their son cuz she's aware that she can trust her.
ОтветитьI thought she was a lesbian ; when did she have a son ?
ОтветитьWhat a beautiful child. The reading scene completely broke me.
ОтветитьThis was such a beautiful and emotional scene 😭 the little things we don’t think about until moments like this.
Ответитьit really shows that emily was and is an amazing parent. makes what happened so much more heartbreaking
Ответить(Edited for finicky phone autospelling)
As a Dinobots fan and someone who hoped Rory got a good story somewhere somehow there, I approve.
As Captain America would remark about certain writers: "We should do better."
Is she still going to be able to read?
