Oakland had it going on. They had the Oakland raiders which are very iconic team and the Oakland A’s. And also lost the Oakland warriors and went to San Francisco. They lost all teams. Oakland is really hurting with all the crime going on. They just shut down an inn and out and a Wendy’s do to the crime. Even a gas station shut down this month and other local businesses are going out of business and going to other cities due to crime.

I own and operate an auto glass replacement company and order parts from a major distributor that has branches all over California-Oakland included.

Sometimes, a specific part that I need is not available in my city's warehouse, but they have one in the Oakland branch.

I would rather lose a sale than to traverse to Oakland to get the part from their warehouse.

I have been there on 2 occassions and I tell you, it's in the middle of a graffiti laden neighborhood, down the street from Myrtle street where all the prostitutes are at.

Even other companies refuse to go and get parts their due to the grit and just how unsafe the area is with all the crime and transients.

Interview someone who lives in east Oakland not on the skirts is not any uglier than some of those mostly white non educated .cities where there’s a lot of white poor people because major companies left the city to go overseas. It’s a matter of people not getting enough jobs and just like a use cheap car doesn’t look nice same thing with the city there’s not a lot of money, there’s not a lot of opportunities there’s not manufacture jobs, but there’s a lot of honest people living in East Oakland they work and live through all this crime and but they cannot afford to get out of there.

I get a sense of democrats not representing democratic values anymore but a full and total degradation. If I could, I would vote for Republican party, because they are genuinely concerned more about the internal affairs, rather than external. It is overall very sad to see the country in this state. I remember I was thinking of moving to States and holy moly, I would not even consider back then if I knew what is going to happen under the democratic umbrella. Of course, Republicans have their flaws - like I do not agree at all on their abortion politics, but overall, from what I understood, they tackle the homeless problems better and overall well-being in the states/cities that they are running. If I am wrong, it would be nice to get examples of the poorly managed places on their part.

I can tell you someting about it. I lived there thirty years. A lot of people moved to Oakland in the post WWII period. There is the big shipping port, and there was an Alameda military base. There was lots of industrial and light industrial. IN the Nineties, people were buying up the old Victorians even in downtown areas, because rents were rising. But then came several things: loss of the industrial sector, retail was collapsing due to the Internet, and the military base in Alameda closed. Oakland has always had great weather. Best in the bay area. So, people affected by all these policies, NAFTA, internet, base closures, loss of factory jobs, came from all over the country to crash in Oakland. The local PTB, did very little to nothing to discourage the homeless from settling in, and also, were not very hard on crime. Being a port, it is also a drug hub. So, the problems you see elsewehre in the US are just magnified in Oakland due to it having a large population that used to be, middle class to lower middle class.

Drugs are a choice. Crime is a choice. Cities feed drug problems for free. They also permit crimes to go unpunished. Who does this attract? Don’t make excuses or blame it on others. You created this.

The city of Oakland police department has been under a overside committee, because of corruption, and what that means is. When the city gets sued, social programs, music classes, swimming classes, rowing classes, there’s no money left because of lawsuits. If you don’t have anything to motivate young people, this is the results. End qualified immunity, put the money back into the cities and have every officer responsible for their behavior and professionalism. The money comes back..🤔👏

Born and Raised in East Oakland, all I have to say is if you have no business going to Oakland don't go you will be risking your well being. Oakland is not a tourist attraction go to S.F. for that.

You ought to visit College Point, West End, Vine City and Downtown in Atlanta GA. These are eye openers in the negative.

I've been to China and it looks like a paradise compared to the US. The fact that the US spends billions on military hardware for other countries while allowing its own people to live like this is insane. Why would anyone vote for an administration that allows this to exist.
