ОтветитьI think I saved that video for later watch sometime around its release. Better late than never huh?
ОтветитьThis was exceptionally well put into words.👏👏
ОтветитьThe P = A = W thery ressembles a lot the foundation of the book Mindset from Carol Dweck.
She states that we should avoid complementing our kids since they re young not from their qualities but from their efforts and accomplishments.
Very interesting, thank you so much!
Read "Why You Procrastinate (It Has Nothing to Do With Self-Control)". It's an article.
“People engage in this irrational cycle of chronic procrastination because of an inability to manage negative moods around a task.”
We procrastinate because of bad moods.
Need to learn emotional management skills. Deep breathing and music are quick helps.
☺️Ahhhhhhhhh, it feels so good being here (knowing I should be doing something else instead that I’m avoiding by watching this).
ОтветитьI have procastinated even watching thisvideo😢

ОтветитьLove this, excellent way to think about these issues.
ОтветитьNow I’m not even sure if I have ADD and or OCD. I may have just elevated procrastination to an art form after 63 years. I think I need a mission…
ОтветитьI am just commenting so that this algorithm everyone talks about picks this up and recommends this video to people. As he said in that talk, awareness of the issue is one of the things we need. I hope others find this.
ОтветитьFinally watching it after several times of backing off
ОтветитьI would love to has heard it 15 years ago 😅
ОтветитьI want to hear more what this guys has to say.. I want to listen to this video every single day!!!

ОтветитьSelf-Worthy Theory
We need to be seen as capable and competent
Belief: Performance is determined by the sense of worth
P(erformance) = A(bility)= W(worth)
People want to overachieve but are also fearful of failure
Procrastination is caused by this mindset(Overmotivation)
Stuck between Success and Failure
Fear of not getting it down; procrastination protects yourself from failure
Overcome Procrastination
Develop Awareness
Tip the Balance (approach motivations)-> Think about all the reasons why I want to do it. Think about the good side. Think of it as an opportunity and experiment; lower the expectation; help people; and fit with my purpose and mission; make it small
Challenge the Equation- ability doesn't equate worth
hi! BEST TALK IVE EVER LISTENED TO!! ive been searching for ways to stop procrastination and this was really helpful! we all really appreciate you helping us students like this, not many people understand the problems we go through!
Ответитьمسالسال واخير
ОтветитьPLEASE EXCUSE THE ALL CAPS; BUT I'M PRETTY DARN SURE THAT THIS IS WITHOUT QUESTION THE BEST TED TALK I HAVE EVER LISTENED TO!
ОтветитьThis is my 5th procrastination video I'm watching
ОтветитьI was unable to find the reason for procrastination all these years. This is exactly what I do….especially cleaning the fridge the day before exams…want to get rest and go to sleep and end up in same situation next day…so well said. I am not lazy but doing things not important at the given time. Sir, please give us more information or details about the solutions and steps we can take to overcome procrastination. Very thankful for putting up this talk 🙏🙏🙏
Ответить❤
Ответитьi like how Nic still continue reviewing the comments and helping out to reduce sufferings.
am trying to get back the focus on my academics after being stucked for a while. Thank you
notes
1. performance ~= ability ~= worth
2. im just experimenting
3. i dont need a perfect result for my final, i just learn something that can be useful or applicable when i encounter new topics in future
4. im trying to break the force of equilibrium (motivation of fear) <---|--->(motivation to approach)
by reducing the weight of fear( this can be done by keep reminding myself method 1-3)
i desperately need something to summon back my danger-detecting mind
good luck friends. yall took the first step. you can do it
At about 17 min I stopped the video and started watching "60 Days In" ...i'll finish the video later
ОтветитьMy life story
ОтветитьThank you! i have my own session therapy now! ✨
This is it :
If you don't start now, you won't finish!
But remember, to reduce pressure and your anxiety.
It's not that you lack ambition. People procrastinate even on things they love.
- Think of procrastination as a protective strategy for dealing with motivational conflicts (I'm just protecting myself from failure).
Success -> | <- Failure
^
Stuckness
- Instead of focusing on fear, focus on why you chose to do this work
- How does this task fit with my mission?
- How do I make it small?
Thanks so much!!! ❤ As a student this help me a lot!!
ОтветитьLol i saved this vid to watch later
Ответитьprocrastination is a dangerous habit for human, especially for those who has responsibilities to complete various task in due time
ОтветитьThis is wonderful. Very helpful and insightful. Thank you.
ОтветитьThis dude explained procrastination like nobody else on the internet. His smiles are kinda creepy and a little bit too long.
ОтветитьOne if the best videos I have ever come across 😊
ОтветитьThis is one of the best ones!! Thank you!
Ответить"May your choices reflect your hopes and not your fears" is one of the most appropriately motivational quotes for such an interesting perspective on procrastination. I've sat in my own head making plans and dashing them to bits expecting failure... there's something profound in ending the decision process at hope.
ОтветитьThis speaker would make a great professor- warm, likable and easy to understand.
Ответитьjust here avoiding wiring this song by learning more about my procrastination.
ОтветитьAs with most Tedx Talks, this could be whittled down to about 5-10 minutes and communicate just as much or more.
Ответить
