Good video but please practice your speach patterns and adjust your mic setup. It's actually unpleasant to listen to at times.

Certificates are useless, including this one. Not once have I been asked about about credentials. All I had to present my work experience and crack technical interviews. Do not waste your time on certificates.

Hey Ben..Im from PLSQL background with 3+ years of experience and have basic knowledge on Python. Im more interested in data analysis but I have no experience thinking of taking this Azure Data Engineer Certificate. What is your opinion on it,Is it correct decision to take this certification to go forward in my Data Analyst path.

I have been building Data solutions on Azure for more than a year now and parallelly I work a lot on Power BI. I was thinking to go for this certification so that I get more overall understanding of different ways to especially transform the data. I have mostly used SQL (Synapse SQL serverless pool ) and data flows to do my transformations but now I want more control and flexibility while I do transformations and I believe I can get that using Python/Scala on Databricks. Will this certification help me with learning practical scenarios involving Python and scala? I don't want just basics, I want to solve some real problems. Any suggestions on whether I should invest time on DP 203?

Love the channel. I would like your opinion on something. Do you believe that focusing on the cloud is the best path for a Data Engineer? It seems as though every corporation will be on the cloud in some measure. At a minimum, there will be some sort of hybrid solution, e.g. archiving data storage.

@Seattle Data Guy which certificate should we aim for if we work with these Azure services and also with Databricks, DP203 or Databricks DE Associate?

Hey I finished the Khan Academy course over SQL, and I have taken a college class on Python, Calculus 2, and Statistics. If I were to study and pass this exam, what else would I need to do to get an entry level role as a data analyst with no degree?

Hi, I have 15+ years of IT experience which comprises Java development and solution design primarily in the Integration space (Integration Architect).
I am interested to take up this Azure Data Engineer Certification.
I have good knowledge of SQL and Java. But NO knowledge of Python/Scala. Will this be a show-stopper for me? Or will I be able to manage as long as I have programming knowledge?

Please share your thoughts. Will wait for your comments before I start my Coursera lessons :) Thanks!

Hi Ben! Thank you for your suggestions on your last live. After rewatching your GCP/IBM and Azure certification videos I decided to ditch GCP and go for Azure as I believe it's better suited for my Data Analyst background (also I work a ton with Microsoft's PBI). Have you noticed any important differences between Coursera prep and the free Microsoft prep? Main differences I see are practice questions at the end of each course on Coursera and the 10th course is an overall exam prep on Coursera while Microsoft has a Data Streaming course. Planning on going for the free Microsoft prep and enroll on coursera to tackle all test preps at the end.

Hey Ben! I just graduated college and start my first job as a Data Engineer next week. My manager asked me to outline some goals that I have for my first 6 - 12 months. He's mostly looking for what skills/technologies I want to learn. I have some ideas of what I want, but what do you think are the big things are for recent college grads entering the Data Engineering field in 2022?

As far as I have seen having this certificate is good for those applying in Microsoft or other companies that rely on Azure for their DE purposes. There is a preference for candidates having knowledge on Azure so I guess you're more on the highlight to get shortlisted. The rest about clearing the interview solely depends on your skillset and communication , certificate only acts as a passport to get you there.

Nice video, thanks !
I think certs are a good way to get book/domain knowledge but nothing beats hands on experience.
Certs can definitely help start the conversation and open some doors.

Currently doing the IBM DE program. I am a MIS major (prob should’ve done comp sci but I’m almost done so I’m not going to switch). I liked your last point on the networking being better overall, that’s a good thing for people to realize. I will say I have been trying to connect with a lot of people on LinkedIn that are DEs so that when I complete this cert and then a project they will see it and hopefully recognize my efforts and skill. I think that’s a good path?? as I don’t know how Amazon or other big companies treat these certifications. Another thing, I’ve seen on Reddit that a lot of big tech focus on visualizing data too. So would Microsoft’s data analyst cert be good to do for the python and P BI aspect? Great vid!

Hey Ben, the AWS cert hasn't been called Big Data since two years ago! It's now called the Data Analytics - Specialty. I think it's important to mention other(although less important) certs like Airflow, Terraform, Spark, snowflake and dbt (coming out in the fall)
