Lock Screen to Portrait or Landscape With Lock Button on Android Phone

Galaxy S9. I do not see auto rotate icon in quick settings. I do not see in screen display anywhere to lock as portrait or landscape. I did lock it a week ago but I need it unlocked now to sign a document and I cannot find anywhere on my phone to do it

Doesn't work. Some apps seem to override the lock function - usually the apps I am trying to lock into landscape or portrait mode like firefox

Some of this is your fault and some of it isn't so I'll be relatively nice. First of all, everyone knows about that button. It's not your fault that this video was suggested when I searched for how to lock video playback to a certain mode however not being clear about which version of Android your video is specific to is. The reason this matters is because new Android users could become confused as they likely wouldn't know that that button has always been there and has always been in the same place and has always functioned the same way. You say, verbatim, the latest version of Android especially Android version 9. I can't think of a less useful thing to say. Sure I could cut you some slack for creating dated content but you didn't specify the rest of the revision number or take the obvious win and say as of this video. I won't hate on your phrasing because I'm assuming English isn't your first language and linguistics aren't your forte. Neither is making helpful videos.

It's so bad though, it doesn't stay there long enough. Even in your video you missed the button twice because it disappeared too fast..

Ok android 11 seems to have taken this feature away for the "2 button" navigation mode (the middle button and the back button at the bottom of your screen) but if you change your phone too "3 button navigation mode" or "touch navigation" then it seems to work at least for myself (I'm using a Google pixel 3a) to change go into system settings→ accessibility →system controls→system navigation. And from there you can choose what type of controls you want.

I cannot get the phone to show that lower right 4. sign that indicate the rotate or not rotate function. I can only get autorotate sign to appear when doing the dragging the menu down from top of phone.

Ok so after along time I figured it out, you just need to press and hold the rotation button in your notification bar and then turn on the option "show button on navigation bar", also its only a Samsung feature, I don't know why he wrote Android but yesh this is only for Samsung Android 9 and above.

I set my phone to locked-in-landscape for my Google Maps
then I opened the Door Dasher app, which doesn't support landscape.
when I switch back to Google Maps it's locked-in-portrait

if you open an app that doesn't support landscape it'll change to locked-in-portrait
