Moving from a “Point of View” to a “Point of Reference.”
Human beings were not created to be little gods unto themselves, but as derivative creatures who would allow God to be the center of reference in the spirit-center of their being. Satan, the tempter, the “father of lies” (Jn 8:44), told Adam and Eve that if they were to eat from the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil,” they would “be like God, knowing good and evil” (Gen. 3:5). They would become their own “point of reference”, the lie of an independent self. Ever since man has lived from this “point of view,” which is humanism.
