A flying peace of art. Enjoy it 😊
ОтветитьThis is such a feat from any perspective. As well as having the know-how to make everything aerodynamically and structurally sound, Bob has replicated all the beautiful lines and proportions of a real Spitfire. (Unlike the people who came up with that appalling "Mk26" kit which is an insult to Mitchells masterpiece).
ОтветитьA MAN AFTER MY OWN HEART! As a veteran myself, my dream was to fly after my career and this young man is living the dream, I'll live vicariously and enjoy the channel.
ОтветитьNo kidding!❤
ОтветитьDoes anyone know if Bob was able to sell his Spitfire?
ОтветитьThis is an amazing achievement. The Allison sounds as good as the Merlin.Although20 mm cannon was available during the Battle of Britain pilots preferred .303 ammo in the two four gun (Browning) wing batterys.Four and five bladed props followed to give even more spectacular performance.Carburettor float chamber issues caused engine cut outs in a steep dive during the early day but this was eventually solved by some brilliant lady!
ОтветитьWow! Incredible!
ОтветитьI heard that after the war, you could buy a new Spitfire in the crate for about $100. Sad..
ОтветитьWhere did you find the blueprints is my question
ОтветитьJolly good show ol’ boy
ОтветитьSaw it under construction at the Prescott Air Fair in 2006 or so. Beautiful job!!
ОтветитьWhat a beautiful airplane! You did a magnificent job engineering and building it!
ОтветитьUber kudos to Bob! It makes my heart sick, though. I always wanted to be nothing more than a pilot and astronaut. My family didn't support the idea. They lived through the Great Depression, some saw the horros of the Second World War up close and personal and didn't like the idea of me joining the service. I lost my grandparents on my father's side at the beginning of the war when their country was invaded. My father and one uncle were captured and turned to forced labor for the remainder of the war. I don't know of any pilots in the family. My unlcles served in the ETO and CBI theatres and one got to see D-Day. All came home. Some of their classmates and neighbors didn't. They didn't want me to witness what they saw. Being born much later after the war I can recall listening, riveted, to their stories. I always wanted to fly, especially WWII aircraft. I have more model airplanes and rockets than I can count.
I would love to do what Bob accomplished with a P-40B, P-38 or even something more exotic.
How? How do you make it happen? Winning the lottery won't happen but that was an avenue for some in this expensive hobby. What an enchanting way to spend alone-time high above the clouds listening to that 12-cyl purr! Just you and the wind and rainbows!
He probably has less than a grand in lumber for that wing. You would have more than that in pop rivets for a newly built one. All the haters can get stuffed.
ОтветитьWhere did you get the V-12 Merlin engine for it ?
Ответитьcongratz
Ответитьgreat build but imo ruined by the wrong engine
ОтветитьInspiring, beautiful machine such an awe inspiring machine.
ОтветитьShould be classed as a continuation
ОтветитьHe built a plane that looks like a Spitfire. He didn’t build a Spitfire.
