It's a ridiculous video. Yammy is usually not so bad. Right now, the market i the US is trifurcated (is there such a word) between crotch rockets to appeal to the young and stupid who want to squid their brains off and think they ABSOLUTELY need 200 HP at the wheel. We regularly scrape them off the pavement here.

On the other hand, you have rednecks and wannabe outlaw pseudo rednecks who just have to have a bike that reminds them of their teenage years when they still had some testosterone and which has technology just about that old. These are the no education, don't tell me what to ride American types who like things like side bags that almost reach the ground so you can't lean the bike, monkey bars and those ridiculously ugly high fairing/windscreens in the front. Don't know what they are called since I haven't been to a Harley dealership in years (since they couldn't answer any questions I had). We scrape these off the road regularly here too, since they are too individualistic to wear helmets or ride a bike with two front disks. But, hey. Loud pipes save lives!!

Then there are the Millennials who haven't outgrown their transformer toys and want an ugly adventure bike that can unfold and become MetalMan, Son of Thor, to fight the battle and win the Asian looking cartoon chick who carries a 6 foot sword while wearing a thong.

Thank you very much. You dim-tards have allowed me to buy an incredible and beautiful Triumph Sprint GT, considered to be ugly by all men who have no taste, for a mere $4,300 with only 13k miles on it. Ha Ha!

I have to disagree, a sport bike looks incredibly cool, but it comes with some serious drawbacks.

A sport touring solves all those problems while keeping 90% of the sport bike looks, and while the R1250RT could be considered a sport touring, the actual sport touring in the R lineup is the R1250RS, an sportier and lighter variant and it is the bike that convinced me that there are alternatives to a sport bike that adapt to you instead of you and your body adapting to them.

Back in 1978 I bought a GS1000 ( 1st year for them ) I put a windscreen on it and a rack and back rest on it as well as a 4 into 1 set of pipes. I was happy with it and it did what I needed it to do and I could work on my own bike without having to get an engineering/electronic/ computer degree. I rode it from St. Louis to Ft. Worth Texas and aside from a rainstorm, was comfortable the whole trip. Now bikes have to be rockets with insane performance you can't even use. One of the most reliable bikes I ever had. I did have the clutch basket reinforced and used Circycle clutch plates instead of stock plates and put a smaller sprocket on the back and a slightly larger sprocket on the front. That helped with fuel mileage. I wish I would have kept it. They are worth more now than what I paid for it new.

I have an FJR, mainly for commuting, 30 miles each way. Weather protection, ok seating position, not too wide for splitting lanes (legal where I live), plenty of power for highway. I looked at an ADV bike, but they are a bit wide for lane splitting and generally more expensive used. Plus only the Tiger 1200 has the electric windshield which I love on my FJR.

You call an FZ6 a sport touring bike, but an RS660 isn't? I would put them both in the same category, regardless of what you want to call it. I wouldn't call either of them sport tourers though

What is your problem, man? You're a hypocrite, here's why. On one hand you say that all motorcycles are great and your an advocate for the general enjoyment of motorbikes everywhere for everybody all the time, but then you go ahead and get a hair across your backside and downgrade ST bikes and Kawasaki in particular, even though we see you promote Ninja 400s and other of their models, excepting the one bike you absolutely hate, which is the Ninja 650. I am a proud owner as it is my first bike and I enjoy the heck out of it! What the heck gives? Guess you still are a noob.

All two wheeled motorized bikes are sporty. And you can go touring on any size motorcycle. Next, is sport touring a verb, a noun, or an adjective? Also just like in combat sports You MUST separate these into weight classes.
Sport touring bikes I have owned: Concours 1000, Sabre V65 with Pitchler fairing and GIVI luggage, VFR w/GIVI, GS1000G w/Vetter kit, CX500 Interstate, Nighthawk CB750 Rifle fairing and GIVI, Vulcan 750 w/factory fairing and bags, Burgman 400, and many more. I went touring and rode twisty roads in a sporty way on all these bikes!

I have owned and ridden almost all styles of bikes, I mainly ride the bigger ones up to 1600 cc. I enjoy riding most of them and the most recent ride I did was around 6,000 miles on an FJR 1300 ES, the 2023 model. It's probably the bike that I enjoyed the most. It was comfortable, quick, and soooo much power, comparably to my R1 (by taking my breath away literally and put me in the zone). But then I can also use all 6 gears just to cruise on lower speeds. With all of it's accessories and side bags I can go anywhere with this bike.

Understanding that this video dates since a little while, it probably be should be revisited.

The Yamaha Tracer GT+ at about 500lbs, features a pretty decent power plant and relaxed ergonomics that should be considered as a viable option for someone who simply can't sustain a proper Sport bike with a windscreen.

I personally own a GSX-S 750 that i absolutely love and that is great for city and short rides but whenever I find myself in +150 miles/day riding, my neck, shoulders and wrists are killing the fun out of the ride. Of course, proper body position like tightening the legs on the gas tank, etc, etc, all help the cause, at the end of the day, a wind deflector won't do much better.

You forgot to mention the most important argument; ADV bikes are ugly compared to a FJR, ST1300, or K1600. And nearly all the bikes you have mentioned have a chain drive. Case closed. And I don’t use my big tourer to race the twisties as fast as possible. I’ll take it down a notch and enjoy the scenery. Besides of touring I use my bike to commute and no one cares, but driving an ADV through town every day with these big wide panniers makes you look ridiculous. 😂

Oversized heavy motorcycles are uneeded. This applies across the board, not just sport tourers. Bikes have gotten too specialized, too big, and too complex. The heyday for motorcycles was from the early 90s to the mid 2000s.

What I think is hilarious is that not many consider the old and big guy whose body is destroyed from a lifetime of riding, with bad neck, low back, and the inability to ride a sport bike for more than 30 min. to an hour. And some of us want to keep going as fast as possible. I have a touring bike, a BMW K1600GT, that I can make go faster around the twisties than an ADV bike, and I’ve tried them. I actually think the GSA handles than a regular GS. Dunno about the Multistrada, which I’d consider now that it has that great 4 cyl., but the point is the options are limited if you want to go fast around corners but can’t bend over or bend your knees, and need a huge, plush seat. Plus, some of us older guys like to act intentionally dorky, because it makes the unskilled and egotistical young guys upset to think an old dork passed them. Sure, a skilled guy on a 600 super sport can outrun us in the curves, but at least we’re still able to get out there and haven’t yet been forced to get on a cruiser, which is probably when I quit.

Dude.😂 There's so much wrong with this presumptuous video. Bikes in different segments all have great qualities depending on what you want. There are plenty of reasons to go with a sport touring bike over a naked or an adventure bike. The advice to scrap a good sport tourer in favor of an Aprilia 660 is just laughable. And the idea that people should worry about being "outrun" by a Ninja 650 is even dumber.😂 Maybe in very specific circumstances that would happen, but not many, and the people buying a sport touring bike won't care.

Your picks are horrible for sport tourers. It had nothing to do with the hp . A actual touring bike that has a more upright seating position that can corner better than your average Harley. And why would a touring bike be light? It’s not a sport bike. You need to stop reviewing bikes you don’t like bile cause you can’t understand why people want them.
