About the talk:
Prometheus-Operator is a widely adopted solution to simplify and automate the configuration and management of the Prometheus monitoring stack running on a Kubernetes cluster. In this talk, Jayapriya, a Prometheus Operator member and contributor from the Red Hat OpenShift Monitoring team will explain all you need to know about the common usage patterns. The main motivation for this talk is seeing repeating questions on prometheus-operator github discussion and issues regarding the usage of operator and advanced functionalities. Even though many users are already familiar with usage of the prometheus operator, it is still unclear to a wider audience how they can better utilize prometheus-operator for configuring their monitoring stack in kubernetes as well as enabling crucial advanced features like security and exporting data. On top of that, the past talks we saw were about the basic design of the Prometheus Operator that sits on top of CRDs. But after those talks, the project grew and more APIs were added to satisfy self-service for probing, operating alertmanager, alert routing and upcoming features like Prometheus-Agent support and ScrapeConfig CRD. This talk helps bring clarity to the prometheus-operator ecosystem, as well as how to make the most out of prometheus-operator. This talk will also helps to answer for most frequently asked questions. The audience for this talk are developers, system administrators or anyone who uses or considers prometheus for monitoring their applications in Kubernetes clusters.
