The horror as you beat him and realize there is a second phase

I was feeling really proud of myself because the Nameless King (and the 5 or so bosses before that) felt really easy and i was breezing through the game. Now with this boss, i'm at around 20 deaths and still trying :c

This fight felt like a breeze because I did it right after nameless king, that fight really messed me up mentally, I started at 11:00pm and finally beat him at 3:54am 💀

Nameless king is so much easier than soul of cinder

The truth is, from a programming standpoint...this boss fight is horrible and huge middle finger to what the player character is even programmed to be capable of. A well designed boss fight is challenging but allows you to perfectly dodge and punish attacks without being forced to get hit if you do everything you're supposed to. It's counterintuitive and shows A) the programmers are either sadistic and hate the player just so they can acheive their notorious artificial difficulty or B) They are extremely incapable as programmers to the point they forget even the most basic coding techniques like "If, then" statements and "for x" loops. As a person with high school level programming this is abysmal.

i found this boss too easy for a final boss, i love Soul of Cinder it's my favorite boss in the whole series i just didn't liek how easy it was it could have been a little harder.

To summarise phase 1.

Spear: when he thrusts it, sprint to his left. If he does the spin, just roll through it

Curved sword: run or play passive, if you run he can’t hit you with anything

Staff: get as close as possible and roll if he uses soul greatsword, this is the best time to attack compared to the others.

i find dodging to the side they are holding weapon is always better, he holds it in his right hand so dodge around him to your left and sometimes if u strafe that and he will miss his swing which lets u get more hits in

i had an easier time with nameless king. almost getting nameless second try and beating him after 6 tries. i haven't gotten close to beating soul of cinder after 15 tries. and only got to phase 2 like 5 out of 15 of those tries

Hahaha there is a phase 2 after you kill him, hahahaha, ofc there is a phase 2 after his phase 2 in the phase 1, why wouldn’t there be one

What is the best sword to use for this boss?

I started 2 weeks ago and i am already at this point and i cant git gud with him. But i love the plin plin plon theme they put there

ive beat every boss in like 4 tries at most except for pontiff which took me about like 7 and this boss I cannot beat the fight is different like every time im seriously about to give up even though it is the final boss

I make it a rule not to use shields and I've also made a sudden realization that I'm on ng+4 or 5 so that's prolly the reason as to why I find this fight more difficult

I have 15 estus shard lvl 9 but still running low in phase 2, the hardest thing in phase 1 is the magic for me but the phase 2 is so ez,the only thing that most dangerous is the combo

this boss kinda annoys me like its the final boss so youd expect it to be hard but no its just a copy paste of other movesets from bosses

Bruh I didn’t know there was a second phase and when he had just a tiny bit of health left I just ran in and spammed and then I thought I got him…thank you dark souls

The hardest part about this boss is his rhythm, or the lack there of i guess. Even with namless kind and mider, if you play long enough you can notice patterns in there moves. But cinder only really has one in his sword phase. The rest of his weapons are a mix of bullshit where he does whatever the fuck he wants. Lamest final boss ever

Well, the muscle memory from the Twin princes' fight is still there which makes Soul of cinder's weirdly timed attacks a pain.

Lmao reading the way the pro ashen ones talk to the noob ashen ones is harsh! I've only just recently got into souls when my cousin introduced me to it, I'm guessing I look like a bot when I play lol, at least when I fight dancer

This is the most random boss I have ever fought. He has the most broken tracking in the history of video games, terrible hitboxes, half of his attacks look the same on startup, some of his attacks hit before he even swings, he can randomly cancel the recovery on his combos, it's impossible to know when he's finished attacking, his curved sword phase is basically impossible, and he has like 3 times too much health with barely any openings.

The second phase weirdly enough gets me more than the first phase. It’s the huge swings that always manage to clip me even tho I time my dodges. First phase I wait until magic style, get in close, and easy.

Phase 1 is so hard. I just back away from him when he has curved sword. The other three are easy enough to dodge and hit but it's the sword form that has bait moves where he holds his pose for an extra beat or two to bait out your dodge. Dealing dmg is easiest in staff form. And then phase 2 is pretty easy, just dodge accordingly.

This boss is the hardest boss in the base game, holy shit I had so much trouble with him. Took me more than 40 attempts to beat (Nameless took 12)

Ds3 was a shit game

First played DS3 in 2017 and I ended up killing him at every first attempt; even my dagger build killed him with ease...Played DS3 again last week, with all patches, still, he's way way easier than the Pontiff (if no parrying) ! Holy Knight Hodrick at NG+2 is a true BOSS, imho :) A boss that can actually parry! hahaha

Two-handing a lightning buffed RAW THRALL AXE can decimate the Soul of Cinder easily...his attacks is no match to quick step!
