Why The Dragon Isles Were Cut From Vanilla WoW - Unknown Side of WoW

I feel like azhara crater would work so well in season of discovery... would be such a fun way to add new pvp content that is still in the spirit of vanilla!

Tirisfal Glades is a lot like Elwynn Forest if you think about it. It makes sense to have Tirisfal Glades and Silverpine Forest be made last, as by the time they have made the rest of the Human zones, they are really good at making those zones and using the world building tools. Now they just need to do the same but put a dark spin on it with effects, filters and lighting combined with the music and ambience.

Hearing about Dragon Isles in this vid knowing what we know now.

Omfg, I've been to that Azshara crater map. There used to be a private server called Mond-WoW, it was a totally custom server. They made a bunch of their own "dungeon maps" by using the ingame map files that had never been completed/used, and the Azshara crater map was one of the ones they populated with mobs and objectives to turn into a dungeon. Amazing to see it again after so many years! I had actually forgotten about it. Oh, the nostalgia :D

The undead thing could be an amazing new starting zone if Blizzard does decide to do another revamp, even if revamps were done in smaller patches

Never knew you could escape the Worgen Curse, the DK starting area locks you in until you finish it (I think) so I never even bothered to attempt that.

One of the pictures you showed made me think of all of the bad guys in wow fighting each other and I really want to know who would win.

Watching this after the Dragon Isle xpac announcement makes this video even more interesting.

Haven’t seriously played since WotLK, but I remember spending an hour around the coast of one of continents and found an old area with a lighthouse that wasn’t used anymore. Thought it was the coolest thing back then

Man that's not even close to true. Even if you hobble EverQuest by restricting it to the 1999 release content, it absolutely had more quest content than one WoW zone. It's AT LEASRT six zone's worth (which I'll admit is not impressive...) if we're going by 2005 content, then EverQuest rockets way, way ahead just by virtue of several expansions' worth of content and the mission system. And given that WoW's early quest systems were not any more engaging than Everquest's ("bring me ten goretusk livers! Collect all 2,980,371 pages of Hemet Nesingwary's diary!") it's not really a great contest.

Soo, these dragon isles eh?

You could say that Classic zones weren't cut but rather put in a freezer, which makes the Dragon isles very interesting since it is likely to be the main continent of 10.0 (Empire of Dragon or something), making it the zone that was in the freezer for almost 2 decades.

Now I just hope that EOD will have at least an enjoyable Main baddy who is a better character than sir Nipples (but then again that bar is extremely low).

Chris Metzen is stupid ig. his lore does work that way. There can be dragons that look different in other ISLANDS / CONTINENTS. We saw it in Legion already.
