Baby Border Collies Start Learning To Herd | Too Cute!

My inlaws BC herds the cars passing their yard. He chases them up and down the fence 😂. His sis was our dog and she herded nothing! She was just digging holes all the way to China! 🤣 When she and my Golden Retriever went for a swim she piggybacked on the Retriever's back, it was so cute. they were best of friends. ❤

It looks like an area that is far too hot for this breed. Border Collies are used to colder climates. They have a dense undercoat.

I have an Old Time Scotch Collie, and while she doesn't have sheep to herd, she does have the 3 small animals that my husband and I created to chase around. 😂 She loves it!

Dogs don't learn to herd, hunt, retrieve, etc. If they don't do it on their own, they are not useful. They learn to do it at their handler's command and direction.

Those puppies are adorable. The rest of the video is sentimental claptrap. The male dog doesn’t give a toss about those pups; he’s a dog - he doesn’t even know they’re his offspring. You can’t teach six week old puppies to herd - they’re too young to be away from their mother. And how come only the two males are featured? Misogyny among dogs?
Letting a couple of puppies loose in a hen run to terrify the hens isn’t teaching anybody anything - and the male dog “supervising” them? Do me a favour!

I was raised by 2 Border Collies in succession. To avoid the conflict of mom and I arguing about coming in for a nap, I was dragged into the dog house and made to nap by our first BC. If I got out of the yard, I was herded back to the gate and there was the bark, telling mom to let us back in. The dog got a milk bone, I got a swat on the butt. If you want to be emotionally manipulated by a dog, get a Border Collie, its the best experience you can have so long as you have the time and space to exercise them. My mom grew up on a farm in central Texas, where they had 3 Borders for 3000 head of sheep and they moved them from field to field every day. That was a sight to see.
