Combat Sights Vs Target Sights With Tactical Hyve - Major Shooting Pros and Cons

I thought there was some additional functionality with combat sights. The rear sight being a 90 degree angle to allow the slide to rack on a belt or table top.

Am I the only one worried about how tanned this man is?

Get 2 guns. Same exact guns. Example. Glocks 34s gen 5. One with combat sights one with target or optics. One for combat home defense/duty the other for competition. Learn both love both be married to none. Problem solved. 😎

I use combat night sights for carry guns because sometimes it's dark out. For home defense, combat blacked out rear and fiber optic green or yellow front with a weapon light. In a dimly lit home, fiber optic will still be visible while luminescent sight rings have disappeared and it's still too bright for tritium to glow. Turn on the weapon light, and the only thing that matters is sight shape, since your sights will be perfect black silhouettes behind all that light. Tritium, luminescent, fiber optic, don't matter with the weapon light on.

What does it matter what sight you use if your target is a person and that shot will HIT that person ....
Its not like the difference between the 2 will result in a 6 ft difference at 20 ft ...

This popped up in my feed. What would you say to a narrow rear target sight with a larger front? Say a .115 rear with .125 front. It seems it would be more difficult to shoot accurately at all. By the numbers, .115 Rear - .125 Front = -0.01 So any light would be slim to see in the sight picture. Adding to that the -0.01 to be equally placed, -0.005 on each side in the sight picture. I don't know if my eye could see that consistently between shots on a defensive pistol. I think at least .140 or larger for the rear OR, a narrower front of .110 or .100 for the front to only replace either sight.

Nice video. Accurate explanations. But it doesn't have to be either/or. First that U-notch rear provides a good visual aid for where "center" is for the front as the notch "converges" making it easier to locate center. I found that the Truglo rear, as shown works great with a narrower front. In addition, what I did was paint a phosfluorescent center dot on the rear do simulate a "figure 8" system so that I'm not using daylight for horizontal alignment, but the dot for that. With that particular rear with a center dot painted one can then use the two horizontally placed dots to get the vertical right. In fact, my replacement front sight improved my vertical point of impact as it was shorter than the Truglo front which allowed me to go to a 6 O'clock hold, not obscuring the target completely. I'm just as fast if not faster with this setup than my red dot. Just sayin'.

My Sigs have combat sights and I am plenty accurate at the range. Same with the red dot in my AR. I am not a competition shooter but I have navy sharp shooter medals in both pistol and rifle with combat sights. I need to buy a second slide for my p229 legion so I can put target sights on it just to dial in my accuracy.

I have both types of sights, Truglo TFX PRO on a G19 and Dawson precision on a G17 with a 1200 lum Olight flashlight. which is my bed side table gun. When you have to defend yourself quickly, you don't even see the sights, you just point and shoot even with
the combat sights and with the precision sights and the flashlight guide, a perfect silhouette is generated that allows you to align the sights; Although as I said, if you have to shoot quickly you will only align the slide with the target and shoot.

Is there hybrid sights?

I kind of agree but if combat sights are less accurate but "quicker" wouldn't target sights being more accurate give you a bit of forgiveness? And lets assume you have equal experience with both sights, wouldn't it be just as effective? I mean at some point, you'll be acclimated to the firearm enough to know about where you're aiming.

I heard from a long time pro pistol shooter that red is the worst color on the spectrum it close to the lower end that's why submarines use it you can see but it gets the eyes more comfortable to work but green is closer to the middle so now I use green and I do notice it easy for me to focus witch works out good because I usually buy trijicon tritium sight and they are available in colors at and up charge I was use to green and I put them on all three of my larger cal.guns 2 9mm and my 45acp and my shooting has improved remarkablely

Practice, Practice Practice. You don't really need any sights within 9 yards.

You really don’t even need sights for most self-defense situation but when you do they would be better off with more precision is my point of view
