You DONT brake into a turn...especially in a mid engines car. Get all your braking done before.
ОтветитьNeeds the 6 speed. Can’t get the most out of that engine with the 5 speed.
ОтветитьWhere can you have this done? A Toyota dealership won't do it, right?
ОтветитьNothing wrong with the seat really you’re just a big boy that is crushing the seat….
Ответитьme encanta ese carro tengo 56 años soy de 🇻🇪 siempre e querido tener uno. pero nunca pude ajuntar el dinero para comprarlo $$$ 🥺
Ответитьthe information this guy gives is slightly miss leading...
i have a 2zz swapped mr2 spyder with the 5spd..
the c60 (6spd) is a HUGE difference in regards to power delivery... ( you cant tell in this video ) if he were to do a FULL 1-2-3 pull , you would immediately tell that the 5spd is NOT optimum for the 2zz ( due to the engine falling below "lift" each shift ( its not as bad on the 3-4-5 shifts ).
with the c60 6spd , the ratios allow you to stay in lift in-between shifts. unlike the 5spd.
also, he states he has the highest rev-limit ecu. which technically is not true... the lotus ecu has the highest redline which is like 8600 ish or something like that. ( i have the same celica GT-s ecu which has the 8250 rev-limiter and lift comes on at 6200 , NOT 6700 ) .
for example : the 5spd w/ 2zz , you would be on the limiter right about 130 mph in 4th gear ( ask me how i know ) and as far as the 6spd , 130mph would be high middle of 5th.
I was never a fan of the 2ZZ, the power band is just waay too high and with very little torque it makes it a pain to drive hard on the street, as soon as you have to break hard on the 2ZZ it will be over for you. A 1ZZ properly built with a small turbo may be better IMO.
Ответить'Just a matter of finding someone to do the swap for you'... just like it's the natural progression. Booooooo
ОтветитьCan someone post Troy Adams information please? 😊
Ответитьmiata or mr2 decisions decisions
ОтветитьI hate to say it but dude HAS GOT to switch to the 6 speed. You stay in the "40 more HP" power ban much more frequently. Get a Celica 6 speed (cheap) and buy the lotus shift kit (can get from monkeywrench) which swaps the shift linkage the the opposite side of the trans and you have a Lotus Exige eater (which this rumoredly... allegedly... arguably... already out handles anyway).
Ответитьits a vvtL engine (NOT a stock engine one) . isnt it ?? . why u dont told ?!!
ОтветитьI know people will swap the 1ZZ to a 2ZZ.
The transmissions gearing is what would make another big difference. I am surprised he left the 5 speed. Hopefully he swaps it in and we get a revisit.
Any recommendations for a mechanic in Southern California who can do this swap CARB legal? Estimates?
ОтветитьMine doesn't leak but it does burn oil.
Ответить"under 10 grand"... with a 2zz swap lmao. this car would be over $30k nowadays
ОтветитьIs this GMR? Azusa canyons?
ОтветитьNow it needs the 6 speed and a supercharger the motor came with and some e85 but really the 2zz is just a 7age with vtec and electronics
ОтветитьLol just realized I know this guy
ОтветитьNow prices are 2x smh
ОтветитьDon't kid yourself though. 2zz swap into mr2 an Elise not make. Been tested by Japanese tuners on video, a very worked track mr2 was way off pace to a stock Elise on road tires. That weight, track width and suspension geometry makes a difference.
ОтветитьNo sir not vvti it's VVTLI
ОтветитьUpdate: I have this car now and it has a cracked timing cover :):
ОтветитьNow these are selling for 10k+
Ответитьmost 2zz ge have the lift from 6200 to 8200.. early japanese ones went to 8600 .. 6700 engage is , oosh..
ОтветитьMy 1ZZ-FE has 125k and it's not sipping oil or leaking. It's not the smoothest sounding engine I've ever had but it's about as noisy as any other I4 I guess. It's had a header on for a while so I don't think the pre-cat issue ever happened with this one. It's a 2003 model year so maybe it'll go ahead and squeak on for another 100k. :) It's a weekend car and usually doesn't get above 4k RPM so I don't think it's going to have too many problems. I'm glad I sold a car for $9k so I could buy the MR2 for $6k and a daily for $4k. It's really working out.
ОтветитьZZW30! hell yes. These are like 10,000 plus on the east coast after the pandemic, stock. Covid caused used car prices to go up by an average of 20%.
ОтветитьShould of gotten the 6 speed.
ОтветитьFunny story, I’m actually about to buy this car, hopefully this weekend. I intend on putting in a 6speed :3
ОтветитьThat 2zz in a car that is 2200-ish pounds? Wow.
ОтветитьI'd definitely rather have more torque. Not sure if it's an option, but a K24 or a supercharged 1ZZ would be very dope indeed.
ОтветитьIt really needs a 6 speed!! gearing is completely different and makes it loads better keeps it in cam, i accidently ended up with a stock mr gearbox, it was disappointing.. box change made the car!!!, great vid as always though!!
ОтветитьI bought a new black MR2 in 2001. It was a fun handling car. I sold it a year later to buy a new 2002 Honda S2000 which still sits in my garage today.
ОтветитьThe 5 speed really does that 2zz dirty man. The 6 speed is really worth the $1200 price tag.
Ответитьdude was thinking about turbo charging his 1zz and then he realized he is in California
ОтветитьThe car was showcased with the wrong gearbox
ОтветитьOnce again Matt Farah likes a well set up MR2
ОтветитьThey remind me of a 550 Porsche
ОтветитьWhat a car, what a road.
ОтветитьBack when I was in high school and my dad was getting me my first car it was gonna be a 2005 mr2 smt (at the time I didn’t know how to drive manual) that didn’t end up happening and I ended up saving money and getting a celica gts 6 speed. I loved it but I bought it on its last legs and being young I didn’t realize it. The mechanic said it had a cracked head and transmission needed to be replaced (when I got it 6 gear didn’t work and it would spit out 3rd gear, the dude told me that’s an easy fix and being 16 and innocent I believed him). I would love to get that mr2 I never got and putting the engine of the first car I got.
ОтветитьGreat car
ОтветитьWhy on gods green earth they didn't put the 2zz in as standard is a complete mystery to me
Ответитьfinally found an MR2 -- rare in Canada so had to import from the US... arriving tomorrow!
ОтветитьWho else read the title too quickly and thought it said 2JZ-swapped?
Ответить6 speed is also an lsd where as the 5 speed is open diff, the Elise uses the same engine and it's not 40hp difference it's more like 60 which is splitting hairs but in that car it might well be a hundred, that car with the 2zz is how they should have come standard, it's just an absolute blast to drive
ОтветитьThis 2zz mr-s is a disappointment. Needs 6 speed. Changes the entire drive
Ответить"If I was lotus and toyota sold this car like this then I would be fucking pissed"
EXACTLY, it was apart of the deal when toyota sold the motors to lotus
Only problem with the 2ZZ is the oil pan if I remember correctly. Otherwise a brilliant engine!
