I had no idea how middling the financials were behind these games, considering they always seemed so prolific. I'm so glad they got made.

Splinter Cell actually beat sly to the punch re: train levels--by a whopping four months. It even has you doing the same undercarriage shimmy.

The Sly series is the biggest middle child out of the ps2 platform genere with jack and daxter being the oldest and ratchet and clank being the youngest

I will always love these games. When I was young, I discovered that I had a heart condition, and by the time I was in highschool I had already been through 3 surgeries.

During that time, a nurse plopped down a video game station in front of me, and I think I played every Sly Cooper game.

Thank you Sly Cooper, you took my mind away from the horrible things that were happening all around me. I will always be very grateful for that. ❤

nah fam the story for sly 4 made me hate most of characters it deserves a bronze bolt

Comparing the sales of ps2 games to anything after is so unfair, ps2 got hacked day one, while ps3 would only see a proper jailbreak years after the ps4 was released,

I have the original trilogy and love it, though it does have its weak points. Standout among them are the mentioned Sly 1 minigames (like shooting crabs and chests, and covering a bumbling Murray from a turret) and the bane of every action/adventure gamer's existence... Sly 2's overheating turrets. I absolutely despise the mission in India where you have to use a turret with a heat problem on a moving helicopter, trying to shoot down not only other helicopters (a lot of them) but also the winding missiles they launch at you. That has to be the worst-designed gameplay in the franchise. There is nothing fun about it.

Sly is the only game I refuse to not play in Danish

For my 10th birthday my friend said he’d get me Jak 2, but ended up giving me Sly 1 bc it was cheaper and Jak 2 was still new and too expensive. He felt so bad about it but within a week I was profusely thanking him bc I fell in love with Sly 1. Thank you Andrew for introducing me to an amazing and woefully underrated franchise 🙏

This was my favorite series on the PS2 and one of the beat series of all time! Great stories characters and gameplay! Shame that Sucker punch has moved on from the series.

All I got to say is thank you for making this video and thank you for all the hard work you put into the making of it as well as the love and passion you put into it. But I was 13 whenever thieves in Time or Sly 4 released and I got it for my birthday the same year it came out and it may just be nostalgia talking but I absolutely love sly4 I love the game play I love the story I just love it all around

Dude they need to make a fifth installment this series should not die

Unironically sly 3 and 4 were my favorite slys when they first dropped. The 3rd left me with that empty feeling of a series that I love capped off in a way I could accept. I'd made the claim that it might be better if it never got revived. But when the 4th dropped I preordered and loved it and craved more at the end.

I personally love this franchise, even the fourth game (never knew it recieved that much hate). Here's hoping we do get a Sly 5 sooner than later.

They REALLY should have even just for a line or two, mentioned penelope in previous cutscenes before the black knight episode, cos at that point, shes randomly brought up in the opening, and its like. ah, yep, shes gonna come back in this one huh. oh, the Black Knight? Like the Black Baron? Yup.

I do think a penelope betraying the cooper gang plot reallly could have worked- i just think its the fact that it was both so obvious when it was about to happen, but also semi happened out of nowhere too is what really killed it, its execution was horrible so it entirely blind people to the possibility of an evil penelope plot being good- shes ALWAYS been mischievous, she was willing to let the cooper gang DIE in 3 for fun pretty much, her being evil isnt really a shock at all

Also don't forget, Sly 1 and 2 had inverted camera look making it almost unplayable. Only in Sly 3 it was fixed with a simple option.

You didn't even mention that Sly 3 had co-op and multiplayer versus modes that was the best part being able to enjoy it with your friend.

I loved the ps vita and thieves of time!
The vita was so far ahead of its time and is such a good handheld

I played all growin up, thieves of time was damn near flawless when I played it on the vita

I never played the first one, but i replayed the crap out of 2&3. Sly, R&C, Jak, and GTA:SA were my childhood, I miss those simpler times. Like the Narddog says; “I wish you knew you were in the good old times before you actually left them”.

That sea of thieves bullet was not necessary, like your content but there it served no purposes, people who play SOT usually like role playing, you may not be into it tho I dont knwo ya bud

I really loved sly. Out of all the mascot games sly actually felt like it had depth. The jak series was really nice but the issue with its identity every game felt awkward

Man 2012 and 2013 were tough times for Sony

It's weird that Sly steals keys from guards, and doesn't... y'know, pick locks.

Remember when Bentley got the idea to give Murray a massive amount of not-cocaine to force him into a violent frenzy in order to gaslight him into sabotaging a bunch of machines in order to break him out of a jail they'd already broken him out of, and the whole thing was played as a joke? Because I do. It's when I realized Bentley... might be evil.

The absence of the barrel missions feels wrong considering they're literally the series and main character's namesake. "Coop" is an old word for barrel, it's related to the word "cup". A cooper was someone who made barrels, that's where the name comes from.

One thing I hate about sly 2-4 is the lack of enemy variety per chapter. In Sly 1, each level has 5-6 different enemy types. Starting with Sly 2, we now only had 3 types. Even in sly 2, 3 of the 8 levels were essentially extensions, with the same enemies snd bosses, as the prior level. One level had a mole enemy that would pop up out of the ground, but yeah, sly games started using little enemy variety per round. It can get old hitting the same clowns over and over again and good enemy variety means enhancing strategies to fight against them. I also enjoyed the ability to read enemy bios in the first game. It's the same thing with ratchet and clank games since Going Commando: they removed the Monsterpedia (you could exclude Rift apart), but I also really enjoy reading about enemies in going commando and discovering their lore. Its like WTH? Why would they remove such a good feature from future installments? Another I hate, and I've mentioned in other posts, is Red Dead Redemption 2 lack of a real Invincibility cheat. Full Health cheat code is not the same as RDR1's full invincibility cheat. Sometimes you just want to explore or cause carnage but are plagued by the fact that you have a cap. At least in RDR2 you can max your health with another cheat, but still...a sore and missed opportunity.

I relate with clockwork. Got hatred for someone. Also stupid as shit after hitting my head so hard off a door frame I went psychotic. Huh.
