Fitbit Charge 3 & 4: How to Fix Black Screen (2 Easy Fixes!!!)

Both of these options did not work on my charge 3 :(

No did not work with me , Fitbit has lost a customer. Useless. Back to wearing a Casio watch .

Neither worked for me. Smiley face comes on but screen is still black afterwards. 😔

My fitbit is vibrating but the screen always stays black i tried to restart it and the screen still stays black and i dont have my phone connected to the fitbit so i cannot do the clock face method

My Fitbit Charge 3 gets dimmer and dimmer over time. Now I can barely read it in a dark room. Changing clock face and resetting it didn't work. There are many customer complaints of this issue in Community Forum. Average life of a new Fitbit is 2 years. One exception is Fitbit Charge 2, it is still working flawlessly. Fitbit builds its product with certain lifespan in mind by design.

I tried it did appear smiling but the screen brightness was so dim I could barely see anything. I have to go to a dark place to see it. How about this?

It worked! I have the Inspire 2. I had to press and hold several times. Thanks for the help! I was about to throw it in the trash.

The first option was not possible as a family member gave me it when it was not working and it was never set up and I need the screen working to do that.
I have tried the second over 10 times and it never fixes the screen so if you have a 3rd option love to know about it.
next plan I have is to let it run out of power but that will likely take a long time with no screen as I have found no way to power it off and on.

Hi there, I followed the instructions regarding putting it into the charger and it worked BUT it is so faint I can't see the settings button so I can adjust the brightness, ANYBODY have any ideas

What is a "fitbit charge"?

Unfortunately, neither method worked on my Charge 4 and, given that it is over three years old, I guess I will just throw it out. And this was my second Fitbit as the first fell off my wrist. Definitely won’t be purchasing another Fitbit product.

Black screen with a charge 4, tried both methods to no avail. Had mine for about 2 years. Everything else still works lol, just not one of the key features haha. Just messaged the company, should be fun..ugg.

Tried all of this and none of this worked. Only the sensors work but the screen goes dim after 2 years of use which is poor quality. The charge 3 is pure garbage.

I tried to restart and is not working for me. i have the Charge 3 and still black the display, but I feel the vibration in my head.

Any of the two "fixes" worked for me. I tryed with all the faces in the phone and was rebooting a whole evening. Now my Fitbit Charge 3 is hitting the bin :/ I´m so sad to see in the headline, that this problem also hit the Fitbit charge 4 and probably also FC #5

My Fitbit charge 3 died. It was never abused. I can't wake it up with these methods. I will never buy another Fitbit watch. Besides, I don't need a watch that's so intrusive in my life.

Neither worked for me. Watch is nearly 3 years old, so I guess that’s it. Time to buy an Apple Watch.. 🙄

Charge 3, button should be on the left.

Hard reset, (charge first)

clean the back with a toothbrush, put in cradle and hold button, after about 8 seconds feel a pulsing sensation. You should get 6 pulses it is reset.
Remove from cradle and then reconnect to cradle.

Screen brightness, button on left.
Swipe to left (right to left) 4 times.
(Settings) - Hit top of screen
(Brightness) - Hit top of screen up to 3 times. Select NORMAL.

On my charge 3 NORMAL is very low brightness I suspect screen is failing.
