Ripely was never motivated by 'being strong and independent' she is motivated by her care/motherly protection for the crew more than her own real vivid fears. Now that is a female protagonist I could get behind.

This is a good example of a strong female lead, she's flawed, she makes mistakes, but she also has spirit and wit, knowledge, etc. She was awesome in this film.

Today? Well...

Films used to be so damned good. Now it's just agenda driven borderline cartoons.

"GET OUT OF THE-'
"Shut up! I'm the one who gives orders here!"
Continues to waffle about while people die
Ripley takes control of the situation
"Ripley! What the hell are you doing!? Turn around! I wasn't done being useless yet!" 😂

Ellen Ripley is the best action hero she is brave but vulnerable and pushes past her fears that is a true here

How much would have they lasted if Drake survived?
He was a hell of a soldier, and despite the situation, he kept his head in the game.

I don't know what you call this trope, but more movies need to do this. Aliens is a masterpiece because of how many different ways in which it is done and how it never gets old. The marines have enough ammo to take down all of the aliens in the colony? The ammo gets destroyed and they are only down to a few magazines each. Ripley needs to rescue the marines from getting cut off? She's got a tank and it seems impervious to the acid blood, until it stops working. Well hell, plenty of ammo and equipment back at the drop ship. Boom!

Clearly, Jennifer Lawrence never saw this movie, for if she had, then she never would have claimed that she was the first female lead in an action movie. What a dumb little twit.

I love how this movie flips the cliche action film in a 180. Normally guys like this march in, kill the bad guy, and win. But here? Almost all of them dead or captured except Hicks, Hudson, Vasquez, and Gorman are the only surviving Marines. Great movie and and an amazing sequel.

It's crazy how good female character is Ripley. She is not you average mary sue or le strong womeme that is the standar today, her character has the best build up ever.
I wish we have character like this today.

The fact is Hollywood just don't make movies like this anymore. You really believed the characters, you are emotionally infested in Alien and Aliens. Ripley is hands down the most badass action heroine in movie history! I know folks love Katniss, but she can't hold a candle to Ripley or Sarah Connor!

The story, script, miniatures and props as well as the actors carry this movie. This movie and Terminator are easily his best work. T2 is probably his very best work but in part with no cgi and with just practical effects and director debut those two films are amazing. Titanic was great but with the whole love theme wrapped around a sinking ship, you kind of knew where it was going to end but with Aliens you don’t know if Ripley is going to make it. The Abyss was an interesting underwater movie. I never really go into Avatar. I was impressed with the motion capture and cgi, but the story really didn’t do a whole lot for me. I liked the movie but I like James Cameron’s early movies; “Aliens”, “Terminator” and “Terminator 2”

There were a couple times Ripley almost got killed and he could’ve easily ended it where they all died but he didn’t. The whole movie was a roller coaster ride and you went up and down, twisted to the right and then to the left. I thought I left my stomach behind when the aliens came out to ambush the marines and I was thinking to myself ; God I hope they don’t die.

Everyone did so good in this scene. Drakes movement when he’s backing up and switching weapons is like he’s really fighting for his life and the way it’s shot is like he’s being hunted.
