Miley Cyrus Says Beyoncé & Rihanna Were 'Protective' Of Her As A Teen

Who run the world? Miley Cyrus is reflecting on her longtime friendship with a fellow music superstar. In a new cover story for W magazine published on June 3, the "Flowers" singer opened up about collaborating with Beyoncé for Queen B's acclaimed country album "Cowboy Carter" and how their duet on the LP was actually years in the making. Miley noted that she first connected with Bey in her teens when she performed alongside the icon and Rihanna for a 2008 Stand Up to Cancer benefit and that the powerhouses took her under their wing. "They were these powerful, fully realized, grown women, and I’m pretty sure I had braces on the back of my teeth. They were protective of me," she said. Miley went on to explain that her and Beyoncé's "II Most Wanted" was actually a track she'd penned years earlier and felt like the perfect choice when the "Texas Hold 'Em" singer reached out to work with her.
