Hey Chris, which direction do the wear indicators face. At the leading edge, so the indicator is facing the opposite of the rotation?

You do all that cleaning, then the first rainstorm you drive through puddles and your rotors get dirt and oil on them anyway.

been doing my own brakes and rotors/oil changes /spark plugs replacements and struts /drive axles changes for decades! but now am a little older and don't have that youthful enthusiasm nor the patience for it and pay others to do it for me. but when a job is well done?.. i choose to tip! on the other hand they try to pull a fast one? i make it a point to let them know they did a lousy job! and need it to have it corrected!.. so always shop around! (No Pun intended) and when you find a good honest mechanic just stick with him or her! they are out there! just like ChrisFix!@

Sounds like after doing a brake pads and rotors change it would be a good idea to do a brake fluid change. Not necessary but a nice option.

Thanks for your tips which not only provide a very helpful check-list but also generate an interesting forum of further points. My interest concerns rear disc brakes with integrated emergency hand-brake - in particular the inside brake pad which interfaces to the piston. Some pads have small protrusions or pins on their back face which align with matching slots on the piston. Some pads have no pins - only a flat face. My understanding is that the pins are important to stop the piston rotating during driving which would allow the screw mechanism within the piston - which self-adjusts the hand-brake for pad-wear - to drive the pads toward the rotor and therefore bind the brakes. Worse, if anti-seize is applied to the rear face of the inside pad, this will facilitate piston rotation if no pins exist to lock rotation.
Any comment? Many cars have no pins on the inside pads to stop rotation. Should they have?

Okay. I put copper grease instead of anti-sease behind the disc. It made my car shake at 140kmph. Removed all of the grease a few days later(today), no more issues. So even a little bit of uneven surface can cause the disc not to sit well, which will make the wheel not to sit well.

Chris, I've been watching for years. You've helped me through some tough jobs. I have an honest question. Usually I just reused bolts. I'm finding out that caliper bracket bolts shouldn't be reused. So my question is can you reuse caliper bracket bolt screws or should you buy new ones? Thanks.

I find it odd that brakes can even come without those wear indicators. I feel like it’s a potential safety issue without them.

the tip about the bleeder valve....interesting. I didn't see that in your other video that detailed the entire brake/rotor replacement process and I was wondering about that step. I was thinking where does the fluid go when you compress the piston and do you need to empty fluid from the master cylinder reservoir to make sure the compressing doesn't make it overflow....that answered my question.

One question to anyone: does using this bleeder valve to help remove some of the brake fluid while pushing in the piston then require a full bleed of the brakes? Or does this not allow any air into the system and is just a way to avoid forcing fluid to over flow from the master cylinder plus get some of the dirtier fluid out at the same time?

thx

Tip 12 if your caliper bleeder valve is exposed moisture and dirt can get in them so you should order a cover for them to prevent that

The new pads could not be inserted into the new grooves so I put the old pads back to drive, as they were not bad. It must be the rear pads that are making the noise.
