I will be 62 on Sunday, February 4, and I remember that Friday, February 4, 1983 when she died and I will never forget it. I was doing news at my college radio station and standing next to the teletype when the alarm bells went off which occurred when there was a very important news event and it scared the crap out of me. I was now 21 and had a crush on Karen and let’s say I lost the entire weekend and returned on Monday.
I was supposed to go out with my friends that night because 21 was the legal drinking age in New Jersey.
May she continue to rest in peace.
Such talent, and such a tragic ending...
ОтветитьAún no lo puedo creer , hoy 2024, que se haya ahogado en un vaso de agua !
Tal vez haya más...lo ignoro....pero tomo el camino errado.
What is the guy in the back, to rear left of singer, doing? He’s not even playing anything, just standing there.
ОтветитьMy god she had a beautiful voice.
ОтветитьSounds great, but of course it is this radio/album version and not performed live here at all. They did have a wonderful sound!
ОтветитьFrom Panamá ,Am 62 now and they were part of lifetime history.
ОтветитьHer voice is meter to learn WhatsApp a good voice and singing is about
ОтветитьEffortless performance!❤️
ОтветитьMy three favorite female vocalists of the sixties and early seventies - 1-Judith Durham (Seekers) 2-Karen Carpenter 3-Cass Elliot
ОтветитьFirst time I heard this song was from the movie 1408. Sounds nice but kind of eerie every time I hear it now. 😅
ОтветитьOur wedding song
A classic

My first crush god bless her and Ed Sullivan
ОтветитьTimes have changed in a race to the bottom way. This song had mass market appeal then but record companies wouldn't sign her today. Not crude enough.
ОтветитьThe carpenters are medicine for me when I am feeling down..
ОтветитьShe was so perfect. What an amazing person.

ОтветитьLip sync alert
ОтветитьI miss you Karen!
ОтветитьLipsynch, but regardless they were the Carpenters!
ОтветитьEpic! The best ever!
ОтветитьShe’s my kindergarten ride to school sing-along fondest memories & the voice of that time of lil me.
ОтветитьThis isn't live
ОтветитьThat is some talent.
ОтветитьShe was so stunning
ОтветитьWedding day 22nd April 1978 this was our first dance. Sadly we divorced 28 years later.
For me this will always be our song.
It fascinates me to watch this particular miming of the song. Did Karen ordinarily play the drums with a matching grip? I was led to believe from her 1989 portrayal for TV by Cynthia Gibb that the real Karen customarily played with a traditional grip. (I’m not above being proved wrong.)
ОтветитьShe would now be 74 yrs old in march, and one month older than Agnetha of ABBA fame. How many more beautiful songs might she have sung if she were still alive?
ОтветитьLip synched. But still a wonderful song. Timeless.
ОтветитьListen to Karen sing Ave Maria. It will bring tears to your eyes. RIP Karen.
ОтветитьYou can see in her face that Karen was happiest when she sang while playing her beloved drums. Thank you Karen for your sharing your talent for too short of time
ОтветитьLovely voice
Beautiful singer
Memorable song
May Karen rest in peace
Sullivan called it quits in..1972
ОтветитьI really dig those slick, laid-back drum beats!
ОтветитьWow ... simplesmente único ❤❤❤
ОтветитьSo gifted. God bless her soul. Phenomenal voice😊
ОтветитьA wonderful voice. The song started out as the track to an advert for Crocker Bank before the Carpenters made it their own.
ОтветитьBreathtaking talent. They're just kids here!
Female lead singers who are also the drummer places her in another rare category 😃
If this wasn’t such an iconic song and you were seeing this for the first time you would think this was a strange performance.
ОтветитьSuch a sad story, her life.
ОтветитьThink she was a better drummer than singer ? Can say the same for Phil Collins !!!
ОтветитьMan, this music really gets me! They're all so relaxed sounding. I love her voice within a choir of male voices. Also, the strings and horns add a lot. There's a hell of a lot going on in this. This so reminds me of being a kid. My parents used to listen to the Carpenters all the time. Karen of course is out-of-this-world, but all these guys are amazing musicians.
ОтветитьWhen I was more into Zep and Sabbath, I didn't fully appreciate this. Damn, her voice is beautiful, now add the nostalgia factor. Wow!
ОтветитьYou can't get more wholesome than this.
ОтветитьAre they lip syncing?
ОтветитьIf Richard et al had left her behind those drums she'd still be alive and singing.
ОтветитьBendiciones...
