I Love European style, classy and sophisticated.
ОтветитьI looked so ridiculously American when I visited Europe. 😂 I’m definitely going to try to dress better next time. 😊 Everyone immediately spoke to me in English.
Activewear is so comfortable though!!! 😢
I actually just want to wear whatever that makes me comfortable walking around all day !
ОтветитьJust wear what you want and just don’t wear a backpack
ОтветитьI am an American.
I do not feel 'uncomfortable' being myself.
I am polite, quiet and not obnoxious.
I would hope my visiting any country would show my appreciation & joy in - YES! - Being a tourist & seeing their country.
These examples are quite frankly insulting.
I love being a tourist and don't
find being one something to be ashamed of or disguised!!
I would never mistreat very obvious visitors to my hometown of Chicago, where we often see
tourists.... I don't see foreign tourists trying to disguise themselves- so why would I?
Great tips here and I love reading the comments. American lady here over 65 traveling to both Britain and Europe (London, Italy, Switzerland and France) next year with my equally “mature” sister. Safety is paramount for us as we are leaving the guys at home this time. When I’ve traveled solo to Europe years ago, fitting in as a “local” was very important for safety as well as not being “upcharged” when shopping if they knew I was American. I normally traveled in the winter so wore a long trench coat along with European shoes, wore a hat to cover my dyed hair and left most jewelry at home. I did practice a few phrases which assisted in getting help from locals if I needed information. I was fortunate enough to make several trips over both with groups and solo. My very first trip over was to London (I’d never been out of the US at this point) and I was traveling with friends that had also never traveled before. Riding on the underground the four of us were chatting away, laughing and having a grand time not realizing how we were about the only people having fun. A couple across from us were smiling and asked, “American?”.. we said yes. They told us we were easy to spot and they were a bit envious as they too wish they could have as much fun while out and about the way we did. I’ll never forget that. At this point in my life, and with my sweet sister, the goal is to be both comfortable, appropriately dressed for touring churches/museums and yet stylish. We’re planning on 3 weeks with only a carryon. So, black slacks, stylish jeans, comfy booties, sneakers, dress and tops along with a jacket is basically our plan. Most fabrics (except the jeans) we can wash in a sink and will dry quickly. (This trip will be in May of next year). Throw a scarf in to mix up the look and ta-da. Good to go. Thank you again for your video. It’s about the most complete source of information I’ve seen in a long time.
ОтветитьVery good content❤❤
ОтветитьIm from europe and this could not be more true….
ОтветитьVery good video, i think it is very usefull and that i will probably use it in the future.
ОтветитьI like your style very much :)
ОтветитьAs an european,i can say that this is pretty legit
ОтветитьJust be yourself and dress the way you feel comfortable. this said, there are formal occasions where you are expected to dress up little bit but if you are just going to stroll through the streets and museums, it's just fine to wear whatever makes you feel good. Also, there is nothing wrong being a tourist, you are most welcome as you are. every time I hear that europeans are fancy and fashion oriented, I smile little bit. you should see what I wear in my everyday life :)
ОтветитьNice!
ОтветитьGood advice.
Ответитьgreat..
ОтветитьGreat video.
ОтветитьYou are beautiful with very luxurious style.
I get that the impression that you are traveling in much higher priced areas than the average American. I really can’t imagine that anyone really cares what someone wears unless it is what you see on American teens for homecoming which is far too little. That may be churches and definitely in Muslim countries. I rarely wear activewear or sports team items. When out, I always wear makeup, have my hair done and nails manicured. My English brother in law’s mother said I looked more like a French woman in my attire and polished look.
I will say, I am very appreciative of the European commentators mentioning being quieter. My husband is pretty quiet but I am am an extrovert American! I know my voice is louder. I will work on being more low key while in Europe.
I see many videos on how Americans should dress and act to fit in while traveling Europe and I have to wonder.... why? Why should we care to fit in? I also wonder if Europeans have the same concern about fitting in when they travel to America. I can tell you they often stand out. From the clothes they wear, to the way they speak, to standing too close, to not bathing often enough and not wearing deodorant. I'm not saying Americans should be the loud, obnoxious beings of stereotypical cartoons. But I am saying, I am proud to be an American and enjoy the conversations that generates while traveling. We all need to get over trying to fit in and enjoy the experience of traveling. Respect and courtesy are the bottom line, regardless of where you are from and where you are a visitor.
Ответитьthank you
ОтветитьHow to blend as an European if your coming from Asia 😂 - wear the LV & Gucci will makes me French then 😅
