Unfortunately I kind of need a smartphone these days. I use it for work, I stream music with it, I use the gps every day etc. I used to love my razr, chocolate, alias and whatnot, but I used to also have an ipod to go with it and had to look up directions on mapquest and print them out. I have the latest iphone, but I don't have social media.

if you're here in 2024 and you have android already try a minimalist launcher like Olauncher. It basically turns your homepage into the lightphone

I think they should enhance the touchscreen for a smoother user experience, include ONE SINGLE GAME, perhaps a basic, minimalistic game to a lightphone version. Additionally, improving the battery would make it perfect.

This would be worth it for me if this had whatsapp. I live abroad, and it's important for me to be able to comunicate with my family

No matter what , we have to run from smartphones because this is going to Deep with invigilation, green pass , banks apps, qr codes etc. If more People will start saying that they have't smartphone then better for us.

300$ for a dumb phone is already a red flag, but if the battery dies within 8 hours it definitely makes you the dumb one if you buy it

the phone you already have can be a dumb phone unless perhaps you are a hyper consumer with no self control.

If u need this kind of phone cause you are that distracted by social media you have a real problem. Dare i say an addiction.

Old times where you didn't take your charger on a week long vacation, and start debating taking it for two weeks long vacation.

But it not lasting even one day it a big deal. Text messages I think are on Apple - they will do anything to stop people from leaving iMessage.

I’ve always thought this product was dumb. If I was struggling with a phone addiction it would never work for me.

I would require email and calendar features for this to be viable. I rarely check my email on PC, unless one already seen it on my phone to determine if i need to react to it.
My phone calendar notifications are very important to me for my work schedule. Also, the texting speed is painful as someone who uses swipe texting.

Looked at the website and it’s beyond horrible.
And the low batter life … wtf?

My iPhone has never distracted me.
I make phone calls, calculate, write messages and look up things online.

Its small size means small powered battery not all the time but yes sometimes I mean they can work on it but it is what it is. Also it has GPS and Data so i guess battery is the looses

I like the idea very much but personally I need Whatapp for communication with my family... And battery life been short is really a deal braker...

Fun fact, the minimalist option is already in your hands (especially if you are a android user), its just whether you would like to remove these features or not

Yeah that battery size was pretty dumb on their part.

If youre interested in using more capable hardware with less capaboe software there are minimalist or "dumb" launchers for Android that work pretty well. Same kind of thing as this. Though you do always have the option of ignoring them and going back for more dopamime if you have to. Bit its a nice in between step rather than buying a new device.
