Does essence of oversoul have anything to do with the caty? i got necro when they opened up normal mode about an hour after contest. do i have to do this? or just a cat run

Anyone down to help me farm essence of the oversoul? I have 3/20 and I can’t find anyone on LFG farming crota for the essence!!!

I played the raid 2 times and got the 35 souls to drop and already had 5 so I can get the new raid weapon already 😂😂

I’m at almost 40 crota clears with only 10 over souls

Can anyone confirm if the catalyst requires 35 new oversoul or if it will carry over the 20 from the quest to get the weapon?

The problem with the essences is that it’s just fake rng. You get 2 each week easily + triumphs which are time gated. Farming is just ridiculous cause you basically don’t get them if we are completely honest. So the whole thing becomes like a glorified time gated quest over 6 weeks. And that doesn’t feel rewarding at all.

So if the drop rate of oversoul is less than 50%
And you need 20 for necrocasm.
Bearing in mind you can only get about 5 for free from triumphs atm.
That would mean you on average would need 30 - 40 runs just for the exotic...
but then you have to do 40 more just to get the catalyst...

Cant wait for nobody to farm the catalyst until they "accidently" buff it so that its broken (and dont touch it for 2 seasons)

Can we get the oversouls completely from farming or can we only farm a certain amount and then ONLY GET THE REST FROM THE TRIUMPHS?

They need to up the drop rate, I shouldnt be able to do 3 runs and still not have one drop. Pretty pathetic

Essence is a 5% drop rate in the raid

Sleeper is Deff not a requirement. My team has one phased deathsinger with lmgs, lineagers, and rockets. And I’ve seen lev breathe also one phase her.

I’ve been trying to get people to do challenges with me and no one wants to do all hunters triumph

I mean by the time you unlock most or all the red borders you should have enough essence to make necro

do i need sleeper catalisted for this or can i use it without it

We used Leviathan's breath on Ir Yut and it worked well too. On my first run today(9/5/2023) I got a ed borderGod roll Abyss Defiant, the warlock chest and helmet and the pulse rifle. Win!!!

So if Croat drops a guaranteed essence just for completeting the raid or checkpoint for the first time on each character does that mean you can create a character and then delete them to farm oversouls more efficiently?

The essence is just a random drop not garanteed..... its RNG 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I CAN CONFIRM Do not use Crota's End to farm the first step. Just do the alters of sorrow or savathun's spire or the K1 lost Sector's on the moon. Easiest way to do it.

Is the necro worth the grind? I don’t play destiny much but only want to go after weapons that are considered PVE meta

This is not a farm. I mean I ran 32 encounters and it dropped 1. My other 2 clan mates got 0 in 32 runs.

I already knew getting Essence would be torment Bungie wanted to force our hand to do contest mode which a hundred people only have done most of the people being twitch streamers I regret nothing and Bungie fixes the drop chances essence of oversouls which is dumb why have a drop item for a item that's a key role for a quest and it hardly drops.. Bungie didn't plan this out as they planned I'm committed to do get oversouls but I'm not going back-to-back and waste time being bored to death not getting oversouls

And once you have wasted all that time to get necrocasm, this will prompt Bungie sadists to nerf the weapon into uselessness.

Try the loot cave in the beginning of GOA.

Grasp of Avarice is a fast and easy farm for the Husk kills.

Leviathans breath is also amazing, as long as you've got the cat. Then you don't need 3 stacks of loader in your arm.

12 hours of farming only got 2 and they came from crota did at least 12 clears of deathsinger and didn't get any. The drop rate needs a huge increase

Thunder lord would also work
